A hundred years ago today, the city-owned Toronto Transportation Commission took over streetcar operations from the Toronto Railway Company and set about building a public transportation network that would serve Torontonians for billions of trips through the next century. Not only have TTC streetcars, buses, subway cars, trolley buses, ferries, and RT cars linked people from their home to their school or their work, or tourists to the city’s many attractions, it’s built memories, for many people.
In celebration of this anniversary, we at Transit Toronto have put together a video montage to give thanks for these memories, through the photographs we were inspired to shoot. Thanks to Damian Baranowski for putting this video together, thanks especially to Toby Rosebrugh, James Bow, Richard Glaze, Jeff Bentley, Edward Brain, Andrej Feher, Ian DeSa, Jason Banfield, Transit Insider, Lui Sidloski, Kevin L. Taylor, Rajh Sri, Patrick Shepherd, Brandy Mckinnon, Jordan Hollingsworth, Alex Glista, Marcus Danchuk, Trevor P.S., Chris Drew, Dave Reigate, and Steve Munro for their contributions to this video, and thanks to the TTC for serving us for 100 years.
