Wellesley East construction: TTC detour, starting September 5



Starting 5 a.m. Sunday, September 5, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Wellesley Street East, eastbound lanes, between Sherbourne and Ontario Streets

to accommodate a project to

  • replace the road=pavement structure, including the asphalt and underlying support materials; and
  • repair, improve or replace road drainage, curbs, boulevards and sidewalks.

The TTC is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 94 Wellesley.

Construction on Wellesley Street East and the resulting TTC detour continue until October 24.


94 Wellesley

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 5 a.m. Sunday, September 5 until 6 p.m. Sunday, October 24, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Wellesley Street East and Sherbourne Street, then detour:

northward along Sherbourne; and then
eastward along Bloor Street East to Parliament Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along Bloor East.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Wellesley Street East beyond Sherbourne Street and at Ontario Street and
  • on Parliament Street beyond Wellesley Street East and across from St. James Avenue and Howard Street.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Sherbourne Street beyond Earl Street and at Bloor Street East and
  • on Bloor Street East beyond Sherbourne Street and at Parliament Street.
