Finch West LRT - Keele: Traffic changes, TTC detour, starting September 11

Metrolinx contractors continue building the Finch West light rail transit line between Humber College and Finch West subway station in the Etobicoke and North York areas of Toronto.


Crews have been drilling and installing concrete supports during excavation for the future Finch West LRT Station on the east side ofthe intersection of Finch Avenue West and Keele Street. Crews are piling, excavating and installing a traffic deck.

To prepare for the next phase of work, crews revise the configuration of traffic lanes overnight Saturday September 11 / Sunday, September 12. Afterwards, crews start working on the west side of the intersection, “for another month, approximately”, meaning as late as until October 16.

For transit passengers:

  • Starting Monday, September 14, the TTC is detouring westbound buses along this route to accommodate the construction:
  • 36 Finch West.

  • The TTC detour at Finch West / Keele continues until October 5.
  • The work zone blocks the eastbound stop on Finch Avenue West at Keele Street. Board buses at the previous stop on Finch West at Romfield Lane or the next stop on Finch West at Tangiers Road.
  • The work zone blocks the westbound stop on Finch West at Keele. Board buses at the previous stop on Finch at Tangiers or the next stop on Finch West beside James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School.
  • Passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect delays:
  • 36B / 36D / 36F Finch West;
  • 41 Keele;
  • 336 Finch West overnight;
  • 341 Keele overnight; and
  • 941 Keele express.

For pedestrians

  • The work zone blocks the sidewalk on the north side of Finch between Tangiers Road and James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School. Walk on the south side.
  • The work zone blocks the crosswalk on the north side of Finch at Keele. Cross on the south side.
  • The work zone blocks the crosswalk on the west side of Keele at Finch. Cross on the east side.
  • The work zone blocks the crosswalk on the east side of Finch at Romfield. Cross on the west side.

For motorists

  • The work zone blocks traffic lanes on the north side of Finch from east of Tangiers Road to beyond the high school.
  • Just one lane in each direction is available for traffic on Finch from east of Tangiers Road to beyond Romfield. Traffic flows on the south side of the roadway.
  • Just one lane in each direction is available for traffic on the west side of Keele just north of Finch. Traffic flows on the east side of the roadway north and south of Finch.

36B / 36D / 36F Finch West

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 5 a.m. Monday, September 14 until Tuesday, October 5, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Finch West Station bus terminal, then proceed:

eastward along Four Winds Drive;
southward along Tangiers Road; and then
westward along Finch Avenue West to Keele Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Keele.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Keele Street at Finch Avenue West.
