Agincourt GO Station: Temporary pedestrian detour, starting "the week of" October 4

Metrolinx continues to update amenities, enhance accessibility and make accessing services at Agincourt GO Station easier and more convenient, as part of the GO Expansion Program.

Starting “the week of” Monday, October 4, GO Transit is closing the pedestrian track crossing and pathway connecting Marilyn Avenue to the intersection of Lockie Avenue and Agincourt Drive while crews relocate signals and utilities. Detour signs provide information to direct pedestrians to alternative routes along Reidmount Avenue and Agincourt Drive. GO is also reopening the access to Agincourt GO Station from Dowry Street.

The pedestrian detour at Agincourt Station “is expected to last approximately eight days”, meaning it continues as late as until October 17.

By the end of this project, the contractors will have built a new station building, a second platform and new pedestrian tunnels with elevators. Construction at Agincourt GO Station continues until “later this year”, meaning as late as until December 31.

When construction ends, you’ll benefit from:

  • a new station building that will be LEED- (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified;
  • a new passenger pick-up and drop-off area (or “Kiss and Ride”);
  • a new second track and platform;
  • a renovated original platform;
  • two new pedestrian tunnels with elevators;
  • canopies and integrated shelters on the platforms to protect you from the elements;
  • a better connection to Sheppard Avenue East at the south end of the platforms; and
  • more landscaping.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Stouffville line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
