Steeles Avenue East (?) lane closure: TTC detours, starting October 4



The TTC has announced that, starting 8 a.m. Monday, October 4, it is detouring buses along these routes during a “lane closure”:

  • 43 Kennedy; and
  • 343 Kennedy express.

(The TTC has not specified where the lane closure is occurring — it could be on either Kennedy Road north of Passmore Avenue or on Steeles Avenue East between Silver Star Boulevard and Kennedy. Note, however, the Metrolinx is building an overpass to carry the of GO Transit tracks across Steeles East east of Kennedy. Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Stouffville line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).)

This phase of construction on Steeles Avenue East and the resulting TTC detours continue until October 12.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 8 a.m. Monday, October 4 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Kennedy Road and Passmore Avenue, then detour:

eastward along Passmore; and then
northward along Silver Star Boulevard to Steeles Avenue East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Steeles East.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Kennedy Road beyond Passmore Avenue, beside #1257 Kennedy and at Steeles Avenue East and
  • on Steeles Avenue East at Redlea Avenue and Silver Star Boulevard.
