Ottawa North Hamilton construction: HSR detour, starting October 19



Starting 8 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, the City of Hamilton is closing

  • Ottawa Street North, northbound lanes, between Beach Road and Burlington Street East

to accommodate a project to line the water main.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 41 Mohawk.

Water-main construction on Ottawa Street North and the resulting HSR detour continue until October 25.

From 8 a.m. Tuesday, October 19 until 7 p.m. Monday, October 25, eat- and northbound buses operate along their regular route to Ottawa Street North and Beach Road, then detour:

eastward along Beach and Dofasco Roads;
northward along Kenilworth Avenue North; and then
eastward along Burlington Street East and Industrial Drive to Ottawa North,
resuming their regular route eastward along Industrial.

East- and northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Ottawa Street North at Burlington Street East.

Instead, east- and northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Beach Road beyond Woodleigh Avenue and at Bayfield Avenue,
  • on Kenilworth Avenue North at Beach Road,
  • on Burlington Street East beyond Kenilworth Avenue North and at Dofasco Gate 10 and
  • on Industrial Drive across from Dofasco parking.

South- and westbound buses operate along their regular route.
