The Village After Dark at St. Elizabeth Village Hamilton: HSR detours, October 19 to 31



Evenings from 5 until 11 p.m., starting Tuesday, October 19, St. Elizabeth Village is closing roadways so it can host The Village After Dark, a Halloween celebration, supporting a local food bank.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses along this route, while the streets are closed:

  • 35 College.

The Village After Dark and the resulting HSR detours continue until October 31. Note also that the detours are in effect from noon until 11 p.m. Wednesday, October 20.

Closing the roadways through St. Elizabeth Village affects service along both branches of the route:


Via Garth and Limeridge

Evenings from 5 until 11 p.m. and from Tuesday, October 19 until Sunday, October 31 (and from noon until 11 p.m. Wednesday, October 20), inbound buses start their trips in Glancaster Loop, then proceed:

northward along Glancaster Road; and then
eastward along Rymal Road East to Garth Street,
resuming their regular route **northward along Garth.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • at Gibbons Square,
  • on Sister Elizabeth Way across from Sister Varga Terrace and
  • on Garth Street [northbound] at Rymal Road West.

Instead, inbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • in Glancaster Loop,
  • on Glancaster Road at Rymal Road West,
  • on Rymal Road West beside Westmount Health Centre and at Upper Paradise Road and Da Vinci Boulevard and
  • on Garth Street [northbound] beyond Rymal Road West.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Garth Street [southbound] north of Rymal Road West, ending their trips.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Garth Street [southbound] south of Rymal Road West,
  • on Sister Elizabeth Way at Sister Varga Terrace and beside the pharmacy and
  • at Gibbons Square.

Instead, outbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Garth Street [southbound] north of Rymal Road West.

Via Rymal and Upper James

Evenings from 5 until 11 p.m. and from Tuesday, October 19 until Sunday, October 31 (and from noon until 11 p.m. Wednesday, October 20), inbound buses start their trips on Garth Street [southbound] north of Rymal Road West, then proceed:

along their regular route eastward along Rymal West.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • at Gibbons Square,
  • on Sister Elizabeth Way across from Sister Varga Terrace and
  • on Garth Street [northbound] south of Rymal Road West.

Instead, inbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Garth Street [southbound] north of Rymal Road West.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Rymal Road West and Garth Street, then proceed:

westward along Rymal West;
southward along Glancaster Road; and then
westward into Glancaster Loop,
ending their trips.

  • on Sister Elizabeth Way at Sister Varga Terrace and beside the pharmacy and
  • at Gibbons Square.
