Oakville GO Station: Another stairway closed, starting October 27

Metrolinx continues to improve safety and amenities at Oakville GO Station, as part of the GO Expansion Program.

Starting Wednesday, October 27, GO Transit is closing the stairs between the west tunnel and platform 2. Use the east tunnel to get to and from platform 2. You can also get to the west tunnel from the north parking lot. If you access the station from the south parking lot, use the stairs or elevators on the first level of the parking garage to get to and from the east tunnel and the north side of the station.

Repairs to these stairs continue “for about two weeks”, meaning as late as until November 12.

GO is also repairing more stairs at the station “into November”, meaning as late as until November 30.

Since Monday, September 20, Town of Oakville contractors have been paving part of Cross Avenue as part of its annual road resurfacing and preservation program. You may experience delays when accessing and leaving Oakville GO Station, so give yourself extra time to get to the north side of the GO station. The work zone restricts traffic lanes during all times of the week, except during rush hours, between Argus and Trafalgar Roads. Entrances and exits into the parking lot and the bus loop remain open.

GO Transit passengers aboard buses along this route can expect delays:

  • 56 Oshawa / Oakville.

Since Monday, September 13, GO contractors have been installing tactile yellow safety tiles on the east side of platforms 3 and 4 to remind you how far back to stand. This temporarily changes how you board or exit your train.
