Steeles Avenue West construction affects Brampton Transit, MiWay service, starting November 1

Update, Thursday, November 11, 8:29 p.m.: The Region is rescheduling the project to spring, due to “substandard night temperatures that do not allow for quality paving.”

Monday, November 1, Region of Peel contractors start working on a project to rehabilitate

  • Steeles Avenue West (Regional Road 15) between west of McLaughlin Road South and east of Lancashire Lane.

During this project, crews are:

  • milling the asphalt surface; and
  • paving base and top hot-mix asphalt.

The work zone may temporarily reduce traffic lanes to a single lane in each direction and temporarily block intersections. “Paid-duty” Peel Regional Police officers will be on site to help direct traffic. Crews mostly work Mondays to Fridays overnight from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. to limit the timeline for disrupting traffic. Occasionally, they may also work Saturdays to keep the project on schedule.

Brampton Transit passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect delays:

  • 3 McLaughlin;
  • 4 Chinguacousy;
  • 11 Steeles;
  • 51 Hereford;
  • 53 Ray Lawson;
  • 54 County Court;
  • 56 Kingknoll;
  • 57 Charolais; and
  • 511 Züm Steeles.

MiWay passengers aboard buses along this route can expect delays:

  • 61 Mavis.

This phase of construction on Steeles Avenue West and the resulting Brampton Transit and MiWay service changes continue until “mid-November”, meaning as late as until November 19.
