YRT revises routes and services, October 31



York Region Transit is making minor changes to its services, starting Sunday, November 1.

YRT is revising service along these routes: Viva purple; Viva purple “A”; 2 Milliken; 3 Thornhill; 5 Clark; 7 Martin Grove; 12 Pine Valley; 13 Islington; 16 16th Avenue; 18 Bur Oak; 25 Major Mackenzie; 32 Aurora South; 40 Unionville local; 41 Markham local; 56 Gorham - Eagle; 57 Mulock; 77 Highway 7; 81 Inspiration; 82 Valleymede; 83 Trench; 85 Rutherford; 87 Autumn Hill; 90 Leslie; 91 Bayview; 98 Yonge; [432])(#y432) Aurora high-school special; 433 Cardinal Carter high-school special; 470 Westmount Academy high-school special; 760 Vaughan Mills - Wonderland.

It’s also revising these Mobility On-Request services: East Gwillimbury GO; Holland Landing; and Kleinburg - Nashville.

Introducing a new service


Mobility On-Request Kleinburg - Nashville

Starting Monday, November 1, introduces this new Mobility On-Request service in the Kleinburg and Nashville communities.

You can request a ride between anywhere in the service area and one of three destinations:

  • McMichael Canadian Art Collection
  • Kleinburg Library
  • Al Palladini Community Centre

At Al Palladini Community Centre, you can connect with buses along the 7 Martin Grove, 13 Islington and 85 Rutherford routes.

YRT-marked vehicles transport you to and from your destinations. Book a ride during the service hours. (Booking is available from two hours before the start of service until two hours before your trip.) YRT will give you a pick-up time. To book a ride:

  • Use the Mobility On-Request App, available in the App Store or Google Play; or
  • Call 1-844-667-5327 and a customer service representative will help you.

The service hours are:

  • Mondays to Fridays from 5:30 until 9:15 a.m. and from 2 until 7:45 p.m.

YRT continues to suspend service along the 13 Islington route north of Napa Valley Avenue to and from Kleinburg, as it has since April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cancelling a branch of a route


85C Rutherford

YRT cancelled service along the branch in March 2020. Fewer passengers were riding YRT buses then due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

YRT has now announced that it won’t be reinstating service along the branch.

YRT is also revising the frequency of service along the rest of the route.

Increasing services**


432 Aurora high-school special

Monday-to-Friday school days, YRT is operating a bus on a new afternoon trip along the route to improve service for passengers travelling from St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School and Aurora High School.

Starting Monday, September 13, a bus leaves Wellington Street East beside St. Maximilian Kolbe school at 2:40 p.m. It leaves Wellington East at McDonald Drive — across from Aurora High School — at 2:45 p.m. It ends on Stone Road [north] west of Bayview Avenue at 3:15 p.m.

32 Aurora South

YRT is operating southbound buses on new trips along the route Mondays to Fridays to improve service for passengers travelling to or from Dr. G. W. Williams Secondary School, Aurora High School and St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School.


Starting Wednesday, September 8, a bus starts its trip on Bayview Avenue north of Stone Road [north] at 7:38 a.m. It ends its trip on Dunning Avenue across from Cameron Avenue — beside Dr. G. W. Williams school — at 8:05 a.m.


Starting Monday, September 13, a bus starts on Bayview north of Stone at 2:33 p.m. It leaves Wellington Street West beside St. Maximilian Kolbe school at 2:40 p.m. It leaves Wellington East at McDonald Drive — across from Aurora High School — at 2:44 p.m. It ends on McLellan Way west of Bathurst Street at 3:06 p.m.

87 Autumn Hill

YRT is operating a westbound bus on a new trip along the route Mondays to Fridays to improve service for passengers travelling to or from Langstaff Secondary School and Stephen Lewis Secondary School.

The bus leaves Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 2:42 p.m. It leaves Garden Avenue beyond Pearson Avenue — beside the walkway to Langstaff school at 2:47 p.m. It leaves Autumn Hill Avenue east of Pleasant Ridge Avenue — across from Stephen Lewis school — at 3 p.m. It ends its trip in Vaughan Mills terminal at 3:28 p.m.

Monday-to-Friday school days, YRT is operating a bus on a new afternoon trip along the route.

Starting Monday, November 11, the bus starts its trip on Bloomington Road across from Academy Road at 2:40 p.m. It ends its trip on Bathurst Street south of King Road at 2:57 p.m.

Mobility On-Request East Gwillimbury GO

Starting Monday, November 1, YRT expands the service area to include the Holland Landing community.

That same day, YRT also reduces the service area.

YRT is operating a bus on a new northbound trip along the route Mondays to Fridays.

The bus starts its trip on Don Mills Road beyond Steeles Avenue East at 2:39 p.m. It ends in Richmond Green loop at 3:09 p.m.

YRT is operating a southbound bus on a new trip along the route Monday-to-Friday afternoons to improve service for passengers travelling from Maple High School.

Starting Monday, November 1**, the bus leaves Vaughan Mills terminal at 3:15 p.m.

YRT is operating a westbound bus on a new trip along the route Monday-to-Friday afternoons to improve service for passengers travelling from Markville Secondary School and Unionville High School.

Starting Wednesday, September 22, the bus leaves Markville Mall at 2:30 p.m. It leaves Carlton Road across from Mansfield Lane — beside Markville school — at 2:37 p.m. It leaves Warden Avenue south of Apple Creek Boulevard — beside Unionville school — at 2:53 p.m. It returns to Markville Mall and ends its trip at 3:38 p.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedules for buses along the route.

760 Vaughan Mills / Wonderland

YRT is temporarily restoring Monday-to-Friday service along the route to accommodate seasonal shoppers travelling to and from Vaughan Mills [mall].

“Black Friday”, Friday, November 26 and every day from Monday, December 13 until Friday, December 17, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops on the route:

  • every 48 minutes.

YRT is also revising the frequency of service along the route Saturdays and Sundays.

Monday-to-Friday school-day mornings, YRT is operating a bus on a new trip along the route.

Starting Monday, September 13, the bus starts its trip on Dimarino Drive east of Lady Fenyrose Drive at 7:51 a.m., then proceeds:

northward along Lady Fenyrose;
eastward along Teston Road;
southward along Via Romano and Ilan Roman Boulevards,
westward along Weldrick Road West;
southward along Thomas Cook Avenue and Thornhill Woods Drive;
westward along Summeridge Drive;
southward along Pleasant Ridge Drive;
eastward along Maple Sugar Lane;
southward along Thornhill Woods;
eastward along Highway 7;
north- and westward along the Bathurst - Highway 7 Connector Road;

Starting Monday, November 1, a northbound bus starts its trip in Pioneer Village Station bus terminal at 11:28 a.m. It ends its trip in the Major Mackenzie / Highway 400 Park and Ride carpool lot at 12:04 p.m.

165F branch

Starting Monday, November 1, a southbound bus starts on Ashberry Avenue east of Weston Road at 2:58 p.m. It ends in Pioneer Village Station terminal at 3:30 p.m.

A northbound bus starts in Pioneer Village Station terminal at 2 p.m. It ends on Ashberry east of Weston at 2:53 p.m.

YRT is also cancelling trips along the route to avoid duplicating service.

Mobility On-Request East Gwillimbury GO

Starting Monday, November 1, the service is no longer available to passengers travelling to or from the Sharon community. Sharon passengers can continue to use Mobility On-Request Mount Albert to travel to and from the GO station and other destinations.

Starting Monday, November 1, East Gwillimbury GO Station is no longer a destination available to passengers using the service. Instead, Holland Landing passengers can use the Mobility On-Request East Gwillimbury GO service to travel to and from the station.

Although YRT is operating buses on new trips along the route Mondays to Fridays to improve service for passengers travelling from St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School, it’s also cancelling trips to avoid duplicating service.

Friday, October 29 was the last day that YRT operated the southbound bus that usually started its trip in the Major Mackenzie / Highway 400 Park and Ride carpool lot at 2:40 p.m. Instead, starting Monday, November 1, it operates a bus on a new trip along the 165F branch that starts on Ashberry Avenue east of Weston Road at 2:58 p.m.

It was also the last day that YRT operated the northbound bus that usually started in Pioneer Village Station bus terminal at at 1:55 p.m. Instead, starting Monday, November 1, it operates a bus on a new trip along the 165F branch that starts in Pioneer Village terminal at 2 p.m.

The eastbound bus that usually starts from Angus Glen at 7:45 a.m. starts, instead, at 7:38 a.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops as much as seven minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip on Church west of Country Glen across from the hospital at 8:13 a.m.

The bus that usually starts from Angus Glen at 2:39 p.m. starts, instead, at 2:29 p.m. It serves passengers at stops as much as ten minutes earlier than usually. And, the bus that usually starts from Angus Glen at 3:39 p.m. starts, instead, at 3:42 p.m. It serves passengers as much as three minutes later than usually.

Starting Monday, November 1, the eastbound bus that usually starts its trip in Bernard Terminal at 3:04 p.m. starts, instead, at 3:11 p.m. It diverts along Yorkland Street and Devonsleigh Boulevard and drops off or picks up passengers at most stops on the route as much as seven minutes later than usually. It returns to the terminal to end its trip at 3:47 p.m.

The bus that usually starts in the terminal at 3:39 p.m. starts, instead, at 3:52 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops on the route as much as 13 minutes later than usually. It returns to the terminal at 4:23 p.m.

The bus that usually starts at 4:18 p.m. starts, instead, at 4:28 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops on the route as much as ten minutes later than usually. It returns to the terminal at 4:59 p.m.

Starting Monday, November 1, the eastbound bus that usually starts its trip on Hopkins Street beyond Yonge Street at 2:40 p.m. starts, instead, two minutes later at 2:42 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops on the route as much as two minutes later than usually. It ends its trip on Church Street beyond Country Glen Road across from Markham Stouffville Hospital at 3:36 p.m.

Starting Monday, November 1, the bus that usually leaves Markville Mall at 7:14 a.m. leaves, instead, at 7:10 a.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops on the route as much as four minutes earlier than usually. It returns to Markville Mall and ends its trip at 7:45 a.m.

The bus that usually leaves the mall at 2:14 p.m. leaves, instead, at 2:15 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops on the route about one minute later than usually. It returns to the mall and ends its trip at 2:55 p.m.

YRT is adjusting the schedule for buses along the route to improve service to passengers travelling from Middlefield Collegiate Institute.

Starting Monday, November 1, it no longer diverts the eastbound bus that usually starts its trip in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 10:25 a.m. along Middlefield Road, Highglen Avenue and Fonda Road. Instead, the bus remains on Denison Street and ends its trip on Denison west of Markham Road at 11:10 a.m.

The eastbound bus that usually starts in Finch terminal at 2:11 p.m. starts, instead, at 2:07 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at most stops on the route as much as four minutes earlier than usually. YRT also diverts the bus to drop off or pick up passengers at stops on Middlefield Road, Highglen Avenue and Fonda Road. It ends its trip on Denison west of Markham at 3:03 p.m.

86 Newkirk - Red Maple

YRT is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedule for buses along the route to improve service for passengers travelling to and from Our Lady Queen of the World Catholic Academy School.

Starting Wednesday, September 8, the southbound bus that usually starts its trip on Shadow Falls Drive north of Wolf Trail Crescent in the Jefferson Forest neighbourhood at 10:34 a.m. no longer diverts along Crosby and Bayview Avenues and Centre Street. Instead, it remains on Newkirk Road. It ends its trip in Richmond Hill Centre Terminal at 11:16 a.m.

The bus that usually starts in Jefferson Forest at 2:19 p.m. does divert along Crosby, Bayview and Centre. It ends its trip in the terminal at 3:08 p.m.

The northbound bus that usually starts in the terminal at 10:34 a.m. no longer diverts along Centre, Bayview and Crosby. Instead the bus remains on Newkirk. It ends its trip in Jefferson Forest at 11:11 a.m.

The bus that usually starts in the the terminal at 2:19 p.m. does divert along Centre, Bayview and Crosby. It ends its trip in Jefferson Forest at 3:04 p.m.

YRT is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedule for buses along the route to improve service for passengers travelling to and from St. Augustine Catholic High School.

Starting Monday, November 1, the eastbound buses that usually start on Ilan Roman Boulevard north of Rutherford Road at 6:39 and 7:41 a.m. and 2:39 p.m. start, instead, at 6:34 and 7:36 a.m. and 2:34 p.m. The buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops as much as five minutes earlier than usually. They end their trips on Church Street across from Country Glen Road beside Markham Stouffville Hospital at 7:21 and 8:23 a.m. and 3:25 p.m.

The westbound buses that usually leave the hospital at 6:34 and 7:34 a.m. and 2:33 p.m. leave, instead, at 6:29 and 7:29 a.m. and 2:28 p.m. The buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops as much as five minutes earlier than usually. They end their trips on Ilan Roman north of Rutherford at 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. and 3:23 p.m.

YRT is adjusting the Monday-to-Friday schedule for buses along the route to improve service for passengers travelling to and from Langstaff Secondary School, Alexander Mackenzie High School, Richmond Hill High School and *St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School *.

Starting Monday, November 1, the southbound bus that usually starts its trip on Bernard Avenue east of Yonge Street at 2:21 p.m. operates along its usual path to Canyon Hill and Shaftesbury Avenues, then diverts:

north- and westward along Shaftesbury;
southward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward along Elgin Mills Road West to Shaftesbury Avenue / Regent Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Regent.

The bus ends its trip in Richmond Hill Centre terminal at 3:09 p.m.

Starting Monday, November 1, the northbound bus that usually starts its trip on Commerce Valley Drive West beyond Leslie Street at 3:03 p.m. starts, instead, at St. Robert school at 2:50 p.m. It diverts along Leslie, Minthorn Place and Commerce Valley Drive East, before resuming its regular route westward along Commerce Valley East at 3:03 p.m. It ends its trip on Redstone Road across from Alvarado Avenue at 3:29 p.m.

The bus that usually leaves Commerce Valley West beyond Leslie at 3:26 p.m. leaves, instead, at 3:23 p.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops on the route as much as three minutes earlier than usually. After arriving on Elgin Mills Road East at Redstone Road, the bus diverts:

eastward along Elgin Mills East;
northward along Leslie;
westward along William F. Bell Parkway;
around the loop at Richmond Green High School;
eastward along William F. Bell;
southward along Leslie;
westward along Elgin Mills; and then
southward along Redstone to across from Alvarado Avenue,
ending its trip at 3:58 p.m.

YRT continues to suspend service north of Napa Valley Avenue to and from Kleinburg, as it has since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead, starting Tuesday, November 1, Kleinburg passengers may use YRT’s new Mobility On-Request Kleinburg - Nashville service.

YRT is also revising the frequency of service along the route.
