Updated: TTC revises routes and services, November 21

Due to “operator workforce shortages”, the TTC’s temporarily decreasing the frequency of service along Line 2 Bloor - Danforth subway, one streetcar route and 57 bus routes. The TTC says it’s made “provisions… to protect service on the busiest corridors in the system during the busiest periods.”

Since the TTC first announced its set of service changes starting yesterday, Sunday, November 21, it has provided more details about the cutbacks it proposes. This post updates our earlier article.

Note that many of these changes would have occurred in December, because the TTC typically decreases service during the holiday period. This year, November schedules continue into December, with some minor adjustments.

Note, also that the changes are not all bad news: the TTC is increasing the frequency of service along some routes, too.

Transit agencies may interline two or more routes with a common stop to save resources — human resources (drivers) and physical resources (buses). For example, until November 22, when a northbound bus along the 75 Sherbourne route arrives on South Drive east of Glen Road weekend evenings, it continues northward along the 82 Rosedale to Summerhill Avenue. It then completes a southbound trip along route 82 to Rosedale Station, then returns to South and Glen to complete a round trip along route 75.
