Greenwood Station "Easier Access" construction: TTC detouring buses, starting December 6

The TTC is continuing its “Easier Access” program to install elevators in its rapid-transit stations, making the subway system accessible for everyone. The program supports the government of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The provincial legislation commits the TTC to achieving a barrier-free transit system by 2025.

Starting “as early as” Friday, December 3, contractor crews are relocating utilities, removing trees and installing tree protectors

to prepare for upcoming elevator construction at Greenwood Station.

The crews are setting up a trailer on TTC property on the south side of Strathmore, north of the station “as early as” Sunday, November 30. They’re also setting up construction hoarding

  • at the intersection of Strathmore Boulevard with Linnsmore Crescent,

to safely separate pedestrians and vehicles from construction “as early as” Monday, December 6. The hoarding blocks bus access to Strathmore east of the station terminal, so the TTC is detouring buses along this route, starting that day:

During this stage of the project, the contractor is working with [City of ] Toronto Water to relocate a water main on Strathmore.

The work zone restricts Strathmore to just one westbound lane west of Linnsmore Crescent. Motorists may still access Oakdene Crescent from Strathmore. A “paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officer or a traffic-control person will direct traffic near the work zone. The work zone also blocks pedestrians from the sidewalk on the south side of Strathmore north of the station.

Crews also start elevator work and related activities in the bus loop and at the station. To avoid impacting passengers and TTC service, they mostly work overnight during non-service hours from 2 until 6 a.m.

Expect noise.
