GO cancelling train service to Niagara Region, December 11, 12

GO Transit is cancelling all train service along the 01 Lakeshore West Line to and from Niagara Falls this weekend, Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12.

Instead, passengers travelling to and from Niagara Region can:

  • Board regular buses along the 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington route. Buses drop off or pick up passengers about every hour.
  • Board shuttle buses that operate from all stations at about the same times as usual train times. GO staff will be on-site the help you find your way to the buses.

GO trains continue to operate along the line every 30 minutes between Aldershot GO Station and Union Station. They also continue to operate every hour between West Harbour GO Station and Union.

If you’re planning to connect with trains along the 09 Lakeshore East line, note that you may have a longer wait than usual at Union as service along that line is hourly this weekend due to construction.

GO has not explained why it’s cancelling service this weekend, but it’s likely due to staff shortages resulting from the vaccine mandates for Metrolinx and {Alstom](/archives/weblog/2021/12/11-mandatory_.shtml) employees.
