Starting Thursday, December 16, the City of Toronto is closing
- Consumers Road between Sheppard Avenue East and Yorkland Road
during a project (.pdf) to modify and upgrade the storm and sanitary sewer system in the area to reduce surface and basement flooding.
Crews are:
- excavating the road and digging a trench to access and install the new sewers;
- replacing City-owned water service pipes that do not meet City standards from the sewer and water mains to private-property lines; and
- restoring all work areas with asphalt, concrete or grass when they’ve finished working underground.
The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed:
- 24 Victoria Park; and
- 167 Pharmacy North.
Sewer construction on Consumers Road and the resulting TTC detours continue until June 28, 2022.

Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and after about 7 p.m. and Saturdays before about 10 p.m. from 9 a.m. Monday, December 16 until 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yorkland Boulevard and Yorkland Road, then detour:
northward along Yorkland Road to Sheppard Avenue East,
resuming their regular route westward along Sheppard East.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Yorkland Boulevard beyond Yorkland Road, beside #280 Yorkland and at Consumers Road and
- on Sheppard Avenue East beyond Brian Drive and beside #1900 Sheppard East.
Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

- on Sheppard Avenue East at Herons Hill Way,
- on Consumers Road beyond Sheppard Avenue East and
- on Yorkland Boulevard [north] beyond Consumers Road, beside #279 Yorkland Boulevard and at Yorkland Road.
