During the weeks before and after Christmas, people travel less often by transit. Students no longer travel to and from universities, colleges and high schools and many people take vacation days to enjoy the holidays.
With fewer passengers, local transit systems are decreasing or modifying their services Mondays to Fridays to save on resources — drivers and vehicles, including Brampton Transit, BWG Transit, Durham Region Transit, Grand River Transit, MiWay, Peterborough Transit, the St. Catharines Transit Commission and York Region Transit.
Due to “operator workforce shortages” resulting from its COVID-19 vaccine mandate, the TTC has decreased service along many routes, since Sunday, November 22.
Guelph Transit mostly replaces Monday-to-Friday schedules with Saturday schedules during the holidays.

Mobility On-Request (general)
Starting Monday, December 20, passengers in the towns of Georgina, East Gwillimbury and Whitchurch-Stouffville can book On-Request service to a COVID-19 vaccination appointment at a clinic or pharmacy.
The service is available every day from 8 a.m. until 7:45 p.m. to residents travelling to vaccination appointments. Residents younger than 18 years of age who require a vaccine, can travel with an adult to the vaccination clinic or pharmacy. Each rider will pay a fare.
To book a trip, call 1-866-744-1119. Contact Centre hours are Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. For weekend appointments, call the Friday before that weekend. YRT accepts bookings are as much as two days before a scheduled vaccine appointment.
Mobility On-Request North
Starting Monday, December 20, Mobility On-Request North vehicles serve passengers travelling to and from “The ROC” (the Town of Georgina’s Recreation Outdoor Campus) Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 10:45 p.m.
Book a ride during the service hours. You can book your trip as much as two hours in advance. YRT staff will assign a pick-up time for your trip. A YRT-marked vehicle will then pick you up and take you directly to your address or stop. You may share you rides with other travellers. Trips must be from an address to the closest Route 50 stop or vice versa. Trips within 500 metres of the destination will not be eligible.
