City of Brampton New Year's Eve event: Brampton Transit detours, December 31, January 1



From 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31 until 1 a.m. New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2022, the City of Brampton is closing

  • Main Street North between Nelson Street West / Theatre Lane and Queen Street and
  • Main Street South between Queen and Wellington Streets

and other streets in downtown Brampton to accommodate the City’s annual New Year’s Eve Celebration.

Brampton Transit is detouring buses along these routes, while the streets are closed:

  • 2 Main; and
  • 502 Züm Main.

2 Main

From 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31 until 1:30 a.m. New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2022, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Theatre Lane / Nelson Street West, then detour:

westward along Nelson West;
southward along McMurchy Avenues North and South; and then
eastward along Harold Street to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North at Queen Street West and
  • on Main Street South at Wellington Street West and across from Woodbrook Drive and Clarence Street.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on McMurchy Avenue North at Queen Street West and
  • on McMurchy Avenue South at Royce Avenue, McHardy Place and Corby Crescent.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South at Clarence Street, beyond Guest Street and Woodbrook Drive and at Wellington Street East and
  • on Main Street North beyond Queen Street East.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on McMurchy Avenue South beyond Harold and Frederick Streets, across from McHardy Place and at Jessie Street and Queen Street West and
  • on McMurchy Avenue North at Nelson Street West.

From 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31 until 1 a.m. New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2022, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Theatre Lane / Nelson Street West, then detour:

westward along Nelson West;
southward along McMurchy Avenues North and South; and then
eastward along Harold Street to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

  • Wellington Züm station.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.
