Update — Thursday, January 6, 10:44 p.m.: Starting tonight, Thursday, January 6, construction between Fennings and Shaw Streets has ended and buses have resumed their regular route along Queen Street West. Buses continue to replace streetcars due to ongoing construction at the intersection of Queen Street West / King Street West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles Avenue.
The TTC is extending the long-term detour for streetcars along the 501 Queen route due to building construction on Charlotte Street. Cars continue to operate along King Streets East and West east of Parliament, but operate further westward to Bathurst Street.
Starting Sunday, January 3, eastbound cars start their trips in Wolseley Loop, then proceed:
southward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward along King Street West to Charlotte Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along King West.
Eastbound cars skip their long-term detour stop
- on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street.
TTC streetcars along other routes continue to serve passengers at this stop.
- Charlotte: 503 Kingston Rd.
Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route):
- in Wolseley Loop,
- on Bathurst Street at Queen Street West,
- on King Street West beyond Bathurst and Portland Streets and Spadina Avenue.
Westbound cars operate along their long-term detour routing to King Street West and Spadina Avenue, then proceed:
westward along King West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Wolseley Loop,
ending their trips.
Westbound cars skip their previous long-term detour stops
- on Spadina Avenue beyond King Street West and

TTC streetcars along other routes continue to serve passengers at these stops.
- Spadina: 510 Spadina.
- Charlotte: 503 Kingston Rd.
Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route):
- on King Street West beyond Spadina Avenue and at Portland and Bathurst Streets,
- on Bathurst Street at Queen Street West and
- in Wolseley Loop.
^ Note that “501P” is the former number of the route the TTC now designates as “501H”. Also: the map does not display the current bus detour between Bathurst and Dufferin Streets.
According to transit blogger Steve Munro, “at Charlotte Loop, construction at King Street will partly block the road and this will reduce layover space available. With only the 503 service using the loop, it will be able to lay over south of Adelaide while the 501 cars travel west to Bathurst and then north to Wolseley Loop. Streetcar service via Queen to Bathurst will be restored in the mid-February schedules.”

Since Sunday, May 9 2021, the TTC has temporarily revised the paths for streetcars and buses along several routes to maintain service during construction projects on Queen Streets West and East:
- replacing the streetcar tracks between Fennings and Bay Streets;
- replacing the overhead streetcar wiring between McCaul and Parliament Streets; and
- replacing the water main between University Avenue and Bay Street.
Buses along these routes continue to replace 501 Queen streetcar service west of Parliament Street:
Buses replace streetcars along the entire 301 Queen overnight route during the projects.
Buses along all three routes detour around the work zones for phases 7 and 8 of the project to replace the tracks between Fennings and Bay Streets.
