Metrolinx continues a project to enhance communication and safety features and create more connections at Malton GO Station, as part of the GO Expansion Program.

GO Transit contractors have completed construction on the east side of platform 3 (south platform). Starting Monday, January 31, crews start connecting utilities on the west side of the platform. This changes how you board and exit trains on platform 3.

Travelling from Malton GO Station:

• Look for signs with information to guide you to where to stand and remember to spread out along the east side of platform 3. Remember that the west side of platform 3 is closed during construction.
• The stairs connecting the east tunnel to the platform have reopened.
• The accessible ramp remains available to those who need to board the accessible coach.

Travelling toward Malton GO Station:

• Listen to announcements on your train, because some trains don’t open all doors at Malton.
• The accessible ramp will still be available to those who need to exit the accessible coach.

When crews have completed this work, they return to the east side of the south platform to install a snowmelt system and add tactile yellow safety tiles. Crews continue connecting utilities on the north platform for “approximately two weeks”, meaning platform construction continues as late as until January 13.

GO contractors have completed construction on the east side of platform 2. Crews are upgrading the west side of the platform. This changes how you board and exit trains on platform 2.

Travelling from Malton GO Station:

• Look for signs with information to guide you to where to stand and remember to spread out along the east side of platform 2. Remember that the west side of platform 2 is closed during construction.
• The stairs connecting the west tunnel to platform 2 are closed. Use the elevator in the west tunnel or the stairs in the east tunnel to get to and from platform 2.
• The accessible ramp remains available to those who need to board the accessible coach.

Travelling toward Malton GO Station:

• Listen to announcements on your train, because some trains will not open all doors at Malton.
• The accessible ramp will still be available to those who need to exit the accessible coach.
• Check out the boarding guide below before your trip.

Metrolinx is preparing the station for GO Expansion by:

• adding tactile yellow safety tiles at the edge of the train platforms to remind you how far back to stand;
• installing new digital signs on the train platforms;
• widening the island platform to allow trains to stop on the north side; and
• changing the accessible platform to function on both sides.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Kitchener line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
