Hurontario LRT - City Centre: Construction on Rathburn Road West blocks bus access to stops near terminal, starting January 31



Update — Monday, March 21, 6:01 a.m.: Construction again blocks platform A in the terminal. MiWay buses along the 107 Malton express and 109 Meadowvale express routes drop off or pick up passengers at platform L until further notice.


Update — Friday, March 11, 5:17 p.m.: Construction continues to block platform A in the terminal until March 19.


Update — Saturday, March 5, 3:58 p.m.: MiWay is restoring service along the 107 Malton express route, starting Monday, March 7. During the ongoing construction, the buses pick up passengers at platform L. When this phase of construction ends, the buses again serve passengers at their regular stop at platform A.


Update — Monday, February 28, 4:38 p.m.: Construction continues to block platform A in the terminal until further notice.


Update — Wednesday, February 23, 7:12 a.m.: Construction continues to block platform A in the terminal until February 28 (7 a.m.).


Update — Friday, February 4, 9:11 a.m.: MiWay has announced that construction at platform A and the resulting temporary changes to platforms near City Centre Terminal continue until further notice. Starting Monday, February 7, MiWay resumes service along the 76 City Centre - Subway and 110 University express routes and the buses resume serving passengers at their regular stops near the terminal. GO buses are again picking up passengers at their regular stops on the west side of Station Gate Road in Square One GO Bus Terminal.

Metrolinx and its contractors continue construction of the Hurontario light rail transit line in Mississauga and Brampton.


Since Monday, August 30, 2021, the contractors have been relocating utilities

  • on Rathburn Road West between west of Duke of York Boulevard and Hurontario Street; and
  • on Rathburn Road East just east of Hurontario.

Starting Monday, January 31, the work zone blocks all access by MiWay buses to platform A for the City Centre Terminal — on Rathburn West, just west of the bus entrance to the terminal.

MiWay is relocating the stops for southbound buses along this route:

  • 109 Meadowvale express (southbound).

from platform A to the terminal’s platform L — on Rathburn West, just west of the bus exit from the terminal.

Also starting that day, the work zone blocks buses from proceeding westbound along Rathburn Road West at Station Gate Road. Some MiWay buses that would usually serve passengers at platform O — on Rathburn West, just west of Station Gate — operate, instead, to and from platform N — on Rathburn east of Station Gate.

MiWay is detouring buses along these routes that usually stop at platform O:

  • 20 Rathburn; and
  • 109 Meadowvale express (northbound).

Brampton Transit passengers aboard buses along this route can expect delays near the work zone:

  • 502 Züm Main.

Since Monday, June 21, BT has relocated its stop from platform L on the south side of Rathburn West, just west of the bus exit from City Centre Terminal to platform O on the north side of Rathburn beyond Station Gate Road.

The work zone also blocks some GO Transit buses exiting from Square One GO Bus Terminal. Buses that usually pick up passengers at platforms 7 to 12 in the terminal — on the west side of Station Gate Road between Centre View Drive and Rathburn — instead operate from temporary stops on Centre View east of Station Gate. Eastbound buses along these routes serve passengers at the temporary stops:

  • 19 Mississauga / North York;
  • 21 Milton / Toronto;
  • 25 Waterloo / Mississauga;
  • 29 Guelph / Etobicoke;
  • 40 Hamilton / Pearson / Richmond Hill;
  • 41 Hamilton / Pickering;
  • 45 Mississauga / Markham;
  • 47 Hamilton / Vaughan;
  • 56 Oshawa / Oakville; and
  • 94 Pickering / Mississauga.

GO has not announced when buses return to their regular stops at Square One terminal buses are again picking up passengers at their regular stops on the west side of Station Gate Road in Square One GO Bus Terminal, starting February 4.

westward along Centre View Drive to Duke of York Boulevard,
resuming their regular route westward along Centre View.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • at City Centre Terminal’s platform O — on Rathburn Road West just west of Station Gate Road.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • at City Centre Terminal’s platform N — on Rathburn Road West just east of Station Gate Road.
20 Rathburn

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route.

From 2:30 a.m. Monday, January 31 until 2:30 a.m. Friday, February 4, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Rathburn Road West and Station Gate Road, then detour:

northward along Station Gate;
westward along Centre View Drive; and then
southward along Duke of York Boulevard to ,
resuming their regular route westward along Centre View.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • at City Centre Terminal’s platform O — on Rathburn Road West just west of Station Gate Road.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • at City Centre Terminal’s platform N — on Rathburn Road West just east of Station Gate Road.
