Strike at Ontario Tech U affects DRT, GO service to the north campus, starting February 10



*Update — Thursday, February 24, 8:50 p.m.: According to the Faculty Association, both parties have ratified a new collective agreement. This means the strike is over. Expect regular DRT and GO service to resume tomorrow, Friday, February 25.


The University of Ontario Institute of Technology Faculty Association (UOITFA) are on strike Thursday, February 10, after negotiations with their employer, Ontario Tech University failed to reach a settlement.

During the labour disruption, transit vehicles will not cross picket lines to enter the university’s North Oshawa campus.

Durham Region Transit buses along these routes drop off or pick up passengers on Simcoe Street North beyond (southbound - routes 901, 920) or across from (northbound - route 302) Founders Gate:

  • 302 Baldwin - Brock;
  • 901 PULSE Simcoe; and
  • Route 920.

GO Transit has not announced service changes, but expect detours or delay for buses along these routes, while the strike continues:

  • 52 Oshawa / Vaughan; and
  • 56 Oshawa / Oakville.
