St. Clair West / Bathurst track repairs: TTC detours, March 17 to 19

Starting 3 a.m. Thursday, March 17, TTC crews start a project to repair the streetcar tracks

  • at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue West with Bathurst Street; and
  • on the west ramp into and out of St Clair West Station terminal.

During the project, buses replace streetcars along this route:

  • 512 St Clair.

The buses don’t enter the terminal at St Clair West Station. Exit and board buses at stops on St. Clair West near the station.

The TTC is also detouring buses along these routes around the work zone:

  • 33 Forest Hill;
  • 90 Vaughan; and
  • 126 Christie.

Track repairs at St. Clair West / Bathurst and the resulting TTC service changes continue until March 19 (4:30 a.m.).

TTC track crews are completing various streetcar rail-related repairs in the St Clair West Station / St Clair Avenue West / Bathurst Street area to return the area to a state of good repair. Most of the work activities are minor and include:

  • excavating concrete:
  • removing old concrete; and
  • placing new concrete and asphalt.

Crews are also:

  • conducting preventative and corrective rail-welding maintenance at the intersection of St Clair West with Bathurst overnight nightly.
  • repairing rail on the west side of the St Clair West Station streetcar ramp;
  • completing concrete work in the station terminal; and
  • repairing concrete on the St Clair streetcar right-of-way east of Bathurst.

Crews mostly work in the streetcar right of way, but, during nightly work at the intersection of St. Clair / Bathurst, the work zone may temporarily block traffic lanes. They generally work “around-the-clock” to complete the various repairs, but only break concrete from about 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. They weld rail at the St. Clair / Bathurst intersection overnight.
