Weekend events affect transit services, March 19, 20

A sure sign that spring is just a week away (at least, if you regularly read this website) is the return of Transit Toronto’s “Weekend events affect transit services” posts.

Road races, street festivals, farmers’ markets, parades and other events block roadways throughout the Greater Toronto and Golden Horseshoe areas many weekends from now until the end of April and every weekend after that until mid-December. The events regularly result in detours for transit services and Transit Toronto plans to alert readers about how the various activities affect your ride through the area, whenever they occur.

This weekend’s list of events also marks a different milestone. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in organizers cancelling many in-person events, so these posts have been a less regular feature of the site. With this weekend’s events, we take a hesitant first-step to enter the post-pandemic world.

This weekend, three events in Toronto affect transit services Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20.

The Saturday, March 19 event affecting transit services include: a Major League Soccer match.

The Sunday, March 20 events affecting transit services include: the Achilles Canada St. Patrick’s Day Race; and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
