Metrolinx contractors continue to progress with the Davenport Diamond Guideway project on GO Transit’s Barrie line. The project to build an elevated structure to carry GO trains across the Davenport Diamond — where the line crosses the busy Canadian Pacific Railway’s North Toronto subdivision — is part of the GO Expansion program.

A major component of the project is replacing the bridge carrying Barrie-line trains over Bloor Street West between Symington and Lansdowne Avenues.
Starting 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, the City of Toronto is closing
- Bloor Street West between St. Helens Avenue and Ruttan Street
while the contractors erect girders on west side of the bridge. The east side of the bridge remains open to trains.
The TTC is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:
- 300 Bloor - Danforth overnight.
Crews work directly on and under the bridge overnight from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night However, the City is closing the street to all motorists, cyclists and pedestrians all day until April 2 (6 a.m.).
Residents and commuters can expect to see machinery in the area including a drill rig, crane, excavators with breaker attachments, loaders, dump trucks, and concrete trucks and pumps.
“Paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers will be on site to help direct traffic.
Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Barrie line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
