Metrolinx continues to upgrade GO Transit’s Stouffville line, as part of the GO Expansion Program.
Starting 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, the City of Toronto is closing
- Steeles Avenue East between Old Kennedy Road / Silver Star Boulevard and Redlea Avenue
to accommodate ongoing construction of a bridge to carry traffic on Steeles East under the Stouffville line tracks.
The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed to traffic:
^ Note that buses along the 43 / 343 Kennedy routes do not operate east of Midland Avenue.
This phase of underpass construction on Steeles Avenue East and the resulting TTC detours continue until April 4 (4 a.m.)
Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Stouffville line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.
From 8 p.m. Friday, April 1 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 4, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Kennedy Road and Passmore Avenue, then detour:
eastward along Passmore; and then
northward along Silver Star Boulevard,
ending their trips.Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Kennedy Road beyond Passmore Avenue, beside #3447 Kennedy and at Steeles Avenue East and
- on Steeles Avenue East at Redlea Avenue and Silver Star Boulevard.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Silver Star Boulevard beside #633 Silver Star and at Steeles Avenue East.
53A / 53B Steeles East
353 Steeles overnight
From 8 p.m. Friday, April 1 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 4, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Steeles Avenue East and Silver Star Boulevard, then detour:
southward along Silver Star;
westward along Passmore Avenue; and then
northward along Kennedy Road to Steeles East,
resuming their regular route westward along Steeles.Westbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Steeles Avenue East at Old Kennedy Road.
Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Passmore Avenue across from #65 Passmore and at Kennedy Road and
- on Kennedy Road beyond Passmore Avenue and beside #3447 Kennedy.
Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.
Eastbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Steeles Avenue East at Redlea Avenue and Silver Star Boulevard.
Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Silver Star Boulevard beside #633 Silver Star and at Steeles Avenue East.
