Starting Monday, April 4, Durham Region Transit is increasing frequency and extending service along some routes. It’s also resuming service along a route in Bowmanville, it says, “to address increasing demand.”
DRT is revising service along these routes: 302 Baldwin - Brock; 403 Park; 502 North Bowmanville; 901 PULSE Simcoe; 902 King; 917 Bayly - Consumers; Route 920; Route N2; Bowmanville On Demand.
Specifically, it’s introducing a new route; cancelling branches of routes; increasing service along routes; decreasing services; increasing the frequency of service along a route; decreasing the frequency of service along a route; revising the paths for buses along routes; and adjusting the schedules for buses along routes.
Introducing a new route
502 North Bowmanville
Starting Monday, April 4, DRT resumes service along this route. It cancelled the service and replaced it with On-Demand service in September 2020 due to lower ridership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eastbound buses start their trips northbound on Clarington Boulevard beyond Prince William Boulevard, then proceed:

Since DRT is resuming service along the 502 North Bowmanville route, it’s decreasing hours for Bowmanville On Demand. Passengers travelling to and from that part of Bowmanville lying east of Bowmanville Avenue and north of King Streets East and West only receive On Demand service when buses don’t operate along route 502. That means the On Demand service is only available in that area Mondays to Fridays before about 7 a.m. and after about 7 p.m. and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Cancelling branches of routes
917 Bayly - Consumers
With fewer passengers travelling to and from Durham College’s Whitby campus during spring and summer, DRT is temporarily cancelling service along the 917B branch between Oshawa Centre terminal and Whitby GO Station. Friday, April 1 was the last day until September that buses operate along the branch.
Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 6.
DRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along that part of the route.

Route 920
Friday, April 1 was the last day that DRT operates buses along the 920B branch of the route. Buses along the 902B branch operated only between the North Oshawa campuses of Durham College and Ontario Tech University and Pickering Parkway terminal Monday-to-Friday midday.
Starting Monday, April 4 all buses operate along the main 920 branch of the route to and from the TTC’s McCowan Station Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
DRT is also revising the path for buses along the route.

Starting Monday, April 4, DRT is extending the path for buses along the 902B branch of the route so that buses along both the 902A and 902B branches operate to and from Oshawa GO Station bus terminal.

Starting Monday, April 4, DRT operates a bus on new Monday-to-Friday and Saturday trips along the route. The bus starts in Oshawa Centre terminal at 5:53 a.m. It ends in Oshawa GO Station bus terminal at 6:20 a.m.

DRT is increasing the hours of service along the 901C branch of the route between the North Oshawa campuses of Durham College and Ontario Tech University and Simcoe Street South / Gibb Street.
