Bathurst utility work: Buses replace TTC streetcars north of College, overnight, starting April 7



From 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7 until 4 a.m. Friday, April 8 and from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, April 9, the TTC is detouring streetcars along this route, north of College Street:

  • 511 Bathurst.

The TTC says it’s detouring the cars due to a “CCTV [closed-circuit television] investigation”, most likely by [City of] Toronto Water or another utility with underground installations.

Shuttle buses replace the cars north of College.

The CCTV investigation on Bathurst and the resulting TTC service change resume again overnight starting 8 p.m. Monday, April 11. They continue until April 15 (4 a.m.).

The TTC previously replaced streetcars with buses north of College due to a CCTV investigation overnight, starting February 22.


511 Bathurst streetcars

From 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7 until 4 a.m. Friday, April 8 and from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, April 9, streetcars operate to and from Spadina Station streetcar terminal, instead of Bathurst Station terminal.

Southbound cars start their trips in the terminal, then proceed:

southward along Spadina Avenue, Spadina Crescent and Spadina Avenue; and then
westward along College Street to Bathurst Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Bathurst.

Southbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Bathurst Station terminal and
  • on Bathurst Street at Lennox, Harbord, Ulster and College Streets.

Instead, southbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • in Spadina Station streetcar terminal,
  • on Spadina Avenue beyond Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street and at Willcocks Street and
  • on College Street at Major, Borden and Bathurst Streets.

Shuttle buses replace the cars south of College Street.

Northbound cars reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Bathurst Street at Ulster, Harbord and Lennox Streets and
  • in Bathurst Station terminal.

Instead, northbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on College Street across from Borden Street and at Augusta and Spadina Avenues,
  • on Spadina Avenue beyond College Street, at Willcocks Street, beyond Harbord Street and at Sussex Street and
  • in Spadina Station streetcar terminal.

Shuttle buses replace the cars south of College Street. Northbound streetcar passengers may transfer to northbound buses at stops on Spadina Avenue between Queen Street West and College.

511 Bathurst shuttle buses

From 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7 until 4 a.m. Friday, April 8 and from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, April 9, buses replace streetcars along the 511 Bathurst route.

Southbound buses start their trips in Bathurst Station terminal, then proceed:

southward along Bathurst;
eastward along Queen Street West; and then
southward along Portland Street to Richmond Street West,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Bathurst Station terminal and
  • on Bathurst Street at Lennox, Harbord, Ulster and College Streets, across from Nassau Street, at Dundas Street West and at Carr Street.

Northbound buses start their trips on Portland Street at Richmond Street West, then proceed:

westward along Richmond West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Bathurst Station,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Bathurst Street at Queen Street West, Carr Street, Dundas Street West and Nassau, College, Ulster, Harbord and Lennox Streets and
  • in Bathurst Station terminal.

Buses serve passengers at stops beside the curb on Bathurst Street, instead of the centre-road streetcar stops.
