Nature’s Emporium Run for Southlake

The Region of York is closing:

  • Davis Drive (Regional Road 31) between Huron Heights Drive / Alexander Road and Barbara Road

in the Town of Newmarket to accommodate the annual event, supporting Southlake Regional Health Centre.

York Region Transit is detouring buses, while the street is closed.

50 Queensway

From 7:30 until 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 24, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Davis Drive and Leslie Street, then detour:

southward along Leslie;
westward along Gorham, Water and Eagle Streets; and then
northward along Lorne Avenue to Davis,
resuming their regular route westward along Davis West.

  • on Davis Drive beyond Leslie Street, at Belfry Drive and Howard and Ashton Road, beyond Huron Heights Drive, at Patterson Street, Bolton Avenue and Lundy’s Lane, beyond Bayview Parkway, beside The Tannery, beyond Main Street North and Vincent Street and across from Lorne Avenue.   • Bay Street, southbound lanes, between Bloor Street West and St. Joseph Street,
  • St. Joseph Street between Bay Street and Queen’s Park Crescent East,
  • Queen’s Park Crescent East between St. Joseph Street and Queen’s Park Crescent West and
  • Queen’s Park Crescent West / Queen’s Park between Queen’s Park Crescent East and College Street

Sunday morning to accommodate the annual event, supporting colorectal cancer charities.

13 Avenue Rd

(Since the City is closing parts of Queen’s Park Crescent, the TTC is likely detouring buses along this route during the event but has not confirmed detour-routing information. We’ve based this part of the post on information it supplied about detours along this route during the same event in 2019.)

From 7 until 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 24, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Avenue Road and Bloor Street West, then detour:

westward along Bloor West;
northward along Bedford Road;
westward along Prince Arthur Avenue; and then
southward into St George Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park across from Charles Street West and at Queen’s Park Crescent West,
  • on Queen’s Park Crescent West beside Hart House and the U of T Library and
  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street.

Instead southbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • in St George Station bus terminal.

resuming their regular route eastward along Wellesley West.

Khalsa Day Celebration

The Ontario Sikhs and Gurdwara Council organizes the annual event, celebrating the Sikh New Year and the birth of Khalsa. This year, all activities take place in Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall.

The TTC is detouring buses to avoid delays during the event. (In previous years, the event has attracted large crowds of people that may block Bay Street, when walking to and from the venue.)

From 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, April 24, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Dundas Street West, then detour:

eastward along Dundas Streets West and East;
southward along Church Street; and then
westward along Queen Streets East and West to Bay,
resuming their regular route southward along Bay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street at Dundas Street West, Hagerman Street, Nathan Phillips Square and Queen Street West.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Dundas Street West at Yonge Street,
