Wellesley East construction: TTC detours, starting May 2



Since Monday, April 25, City of Toronto contractors have been working on a project (.pdf) to rebuild the road, curb and sidewalks

  • on Wellesley Street East between Ontario and Sherbourne Streets.

Starting Monday, May 2, the work zone blocks bus access to eastbound stops on the street. The TTC is detouring buses along this route, while the work zone blocks access:

  • 94 Wellesley.

Construction on Wellesley Street East and the resulting TTC detour continue until June 17.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route.

From Monday, May 2 until Tuesday, June 17, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Wellesley Street East and Sherbourne Street, then detour:

northward along Sherbourne; and then
eastward along Sherbourne to Wellesley East,
resuming their regular route westward along Wellesley East.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Wellesley Street East beyond Sherbourne Street and at Ontario Street and
  • on Parliament Street beyond Wellesley Street East, across from St. James Street and at Bloor Street East.

Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Sherbourne Street beyond Earl Street and at Bloor Street East and
  • on Bloor Street East beyond Sherbourne Street and at Parliament Street.
