Starting 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 6, the City of Richmond Hill is closing
- Red Maple Road between 16th Avenue and Colston Court
to accommodate contractors who are connecting services for a new development at #243 16th Avenue.
York Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:
- 86 Newkirk - Red Maple.
Construction on Red Maple and the resulting YRT detour continue until May 9 (5 a.m.).
The City is again closing the street for the same project and YRT is detouring the buses from 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 13 until 5 a.m. Monday, May 16.

After 9:45 p.m. Friday, May 6 and all day Saturday, May 7, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Yonge Street and Carrville Road / 16th Avenue, then detour:
southward along Yonge; and then
eastward along Bantry Avenue to Red Maple Road,
resuming their regular route southward along Red Maple.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on 16th Avenue beyond Yonge Street and at Red Maple Road and
- on Red Maple Road across from Colston Court, at Revelstoke Crescent [north] and MacGregor and Bantry Avenues.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Yonge Street at Spruce, Oak and Edgar Avenues.
Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.
Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Red Maple Road at Silver Linden Avenue, Colston Court and 16th Avenue and
- on 16th Avenue at Yonge Street.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Yonge Street beyond Bantry Avenue, at Northern Heights Drive and across from Spruce Avenue.
