Since Monday, November 9, 2020, Region of Peel contractors have been working on a project to widen and improve
- Bovaird Drive West [Regional Road 107] between Creditview Road / James Potter Road and Worthington Avenue / Lake Louise Drive.
Starting Monday, April 25, crews resumed the project and have set up the work zone on the south side side of the roadway, instead of the north side. Starting Monday, May 16, Brampton Transit buses again operate to and from stop #2379 on the north side of Bovaird West at Lagerfeld Drive, affecting service along these routes:
- 4 / 4A Chinguacousy
- 5 / 5A Bovaird;
- 9 Vodden; and
- 215 St. Thomas Aquinas iRide high-school special.
BT passengers can also expect delays aboard buses along the routes and along the 505 Züm Bovaird route during this next phase of construction.
GO Transit passengers aboard buses along these routes can also expect delays:
- 31 / 31B / 31E / 31F / 31M Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto; and
- 33 / 33B / 33E Guelph / Georgetown / North York.
The Region previously rebuilt Bovaird Drive West between Worthington Avenue / Lake Louise Drive and Van Kirk Drive / Royal Orchard Drive — also affecting Brampton Transit and GO bus service — in 2019.
This phase of construction on Bovaird Drive West and the resulting BT and GO service changes continue “until Fall 2022”, meaning as late as until November 30.
During this project, contractors are:
- removing and replacing the westbound bridge over the tracks of the Canadian National Railway’s Halton Subdivision. (The tracks carry trains along GO Transit’s Kitchener line;
- rebuilding and widening the roadway and the CN rail bridge from five to six lanes;
- installing new multi-use pathways along both sides of Bovaird Drive West;
- enhancing street-lighting, landscaping and boulevards; and,
- improving intersections and traffic signals.
During most of the project, contractors are maintaining two lanes of traffic in each direction. Occasionally, they may expand the work zone to just one lane in each direction — but only during off-peak traffic hours.
Crews mostly work Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., but may occasionally work overnight and on weekends to keep the project on schedule and to reduce the timeline for disrupting the nearby community. The project may require crews to work weekends and overnight at the railway bridge to reduce the impact to CN and GO train service.
