Uxbridge road closures due to storm damage: DRT, GO detours, starting May 21



Yesterday, Saturday, May 21, a tornado touched down in Uxbridge, extensively damaging buildings, roadways and other infrastructure.

While crews clean up the damage, the Township of Uxbridge is closing these streets to traffic:

  • King Street East between Toronto Street North and Railway Street; and
  • Railway Street between King Street East and Albert Street.

Durham Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the streets are closed:

  • 905B Thickson - Reach.

GO Transit is detouring buses along these routes, while the streets are closed:

  • 70 Uxbridge / Stouffville / Markham; and
  • 71 Uxbridge / Stouffville / Toronto.

Road closures in Uxbridge due to storm damage and the resulting DRT and GO detours continue until further notice.

Starting Saturday, May 21, southbound buses start their trips on Albert Street east of Railway Street, then proceed:

along their regular route southward along Albert.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Railway Street across from Albert Street.

Instead, southbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Albert Street at Railway Street.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Toronto Street North and Albert Street, then detour:

westward along Albert to Railway Street,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Railway Street across from Albert Street.

Instead, northbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Albert Street at Railway Street.

GO Transit
70 Uxbridge / Stouffville / Markham
71 Uxbridge / Stouffville / Toronto

Starting Saturday, May 21, southbound buses start their trips on Albert Street east of Railway Street, then proceed:

southward along Railway; and then
eastward along Brock Street West to Toronto Street,
resuming their regular routes southward along Toronto South.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Railway Street across from Albert Street.

Instead, southbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Albert Street at Railway Street.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Toronto Street North and Albert Street, then detour:

westward along Albert to Railway Street,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Railway Street across from Albert Street.

Instead, northbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop
