Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway closure affects HSR service, May 26 to 30

From 11 p.m. Thursday, May 26 until 7 p.m. Monday, May 30, the City of Hamilton is closing

  • the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (“the Linc”) between Mohawk Road West / Golf Links Road and the Red Hill Valley Parkway

so that City and contractor crews can maintain the roadway.

No HSR buses detour during the closure. However, the closure will force general vehicle traffic that would normally flow along the Linc to follow detour routings. Depending on the volume of traffic, delays and congestion may occur on the detour routings. This, in turn, may severely delay HSR buses.

Expect major delays for buses operating along east-west streets that parallel the Linc, as motorists seek alternate paths around the closure, affecting service along these routes:

  • 41 Mohawk;
  • 43 Stone Church; and
  • 44 Rymal.

Expect less severe delays for buses operating along north-south streets that have interchanges with the Linc, affecting service along these routes:

  • 11 Parkdale;
  • 20 A-Line express;
  • 23 Upper Gage;
  • 25 Upper Wentworth;
  • 27 Upper James;
  • 33 Sanatorium;
  • 35 College.

Traffic congestion throughout the south Mountain area may also affect service along these routes:

  • 5A / 5C Delaware;
  • 16 Ancaster;
  • 21 Upper Kenilworth;
  • 22 Upper Ottawa;
  • 24 Upper Sherman;
  • 26 Upper Wellington; and
  • 34 Upper Paradise.

During the closure, crews are:

  • resurfacing and repairing asphalt;
  • repairing bridges and signs;
  • marking the pavement;
  • clearing ditches;
  • cleaning catch basins; and
  • maintaining vegetation.

Westbound lanes of the Linc reopen 4 a.m. Monday, May 30. Eastbound lanes remain closed until 7 p.m. that day.
