Also Thursday, June 9, contractors start the next phase of construction at the station. The new work zone blocks the Steeles Avenue East access and the passenger pick-up and drop off area (or “kiss and ride”) north of the station building.
You can access the north side of the station from Bramalea Road and the parking garage or you can follow a detour path to get to the south-side parking lot from Advance Boulevard. The sidewalk from Bramalea Road to the parking garage remains available for pedestrians.
Use the south-side Kiss and ride which has six available lanes. Contractors have blocked two lanes of this kiss and ride to create space for construction equipment they are using for work to expand the south platform.
The work zone also restricts traffic lanes on Steeles, while crews repair curbs and the island on the road.
During the closure of the Steeles access, Brampton Transit is detouring its buses as they operate through the new terminal.

Construction at the Steeles Avenue East access of Bramalea GO Station and the resulting Brampton Transit detours continue “for approximately 2 months”, meaning as late as until August 31.
Wednesday, May 18, GO opened a new exit ramp from level P2 of the parking garage to Bramalea Road. You can only turn left (northbound) onto Bramalea Road from the new exit ramp.
The P1 entrance and exit to Bramalea Road, as well as the P1 entrance and exit to the west side of the station and Steeles Avenue East remain open.
Also starting Wednesday, May 18, GO reopened the west pedestrian tunnel from the south platform (platform 4) to the north platform (platforms 2 and 3). It continues to close access to the west tunnel from the north side of the station during the ongoing station construction. Construction to extend the west tunnel to GO’s property limits on the south side of the station is complete. The elevators on the west side of platform 3 and 4 are back in service.
Construction on the new permanent bus platforms and to expand the south platform is ongoing. GO expects to complete these projects “later this summer”, meaning construction continues as late as until September 30.
Construction crews are also working to prepare for widening the south platform at the station. The work zone blocks 40 parking spaces on the eastern edge of the south parking lot. GO says, “There [is] still plenty of parking spaces available.” In the south parking lot, GO has closed the two eastern lanes in passenger pick-up and drop-off area (or “Kiss and Ride”) for construction vehicles to travelling to and the construction site. You can still use the remaining six open Kiss and Ride lanes.
The south platform is still open. A fence on the south edge of the south platform separates the construction and passenger areas. The work zone doesn’t block access to the south platform from the south parking.
Metrolinx and GO intend to complete this work “in spring 2022”, meaning as late as until June 30.
Since Saturday, January 29, GO and Brampton Transit contractors have been installing new platforms for the new Züm station — a bus rapid transit stop — on Steeles Avenue West beside the station exit / entrance.
The work zone temporarily restricts traffic on the station roadway to just one lane in each direction.
The work zone continues to restrict traffic until spring”, meaning as late as **until June 30.
Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Kitchener line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
