Update — Saturday, September 24, 7:33 a.m.: Phase 1 of construction at the Bradford GO parking lot continues “to mid-October”, meaning as late as until October 21. GO continues to close the section of the main parking lot nearest Dissette Street until this phase is complete.
Metrolinx continues its project to upgrade Bradford GO Station, as part of the GO Expansion Program.
Tuesday, June 21, contractors start the first phase of the project to upgrade the station with better parking and new amenities. They start construction in the main parking lot, with GO Transit closing a section nearest Dissette Street first. Crews are upgrading the electrical cables in this area to improve the lighting, speakers and drainage system.
Parking spaces outside of the construction area in the main lot are still available. Give yourself extra time to park at the station and reach your platform. Construction doesn’t affect access to the station building and the passenger pick-up and drop-off area.
Metrolinx and GO expect to complete this phase of the project “by September”, meaning the first phase of construction at Bradford GO Station continues as late as until September 30. Overall construction to upgrade Bradford GO continues “until 2023”, meaning as late as until December 31, 2023.
Since Monday, January 17, GO has been getting ready to upgrade the station.
It’s sectioned off about 30 parking spaces in the south section of the parking lot near Bridge Street to store equipment. This doesn’t change how you access the station.
During the upgrade project, GO is:
- Installing a signal at the Dissette Street entrance to improve traffic flow.
- Building new sidewalks into the station from Dissette Street and Bridge Street.
- Improving station lighting and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras;
- Improving the parking lot and increasing the number of parking spaces;
- Improving the stormwater-management system; and
- Upgrading the bus loop with three new bays and installing a new heated shelter.
Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Barrie line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
