Subway closes early, June 28 to 30: Jane to Ossington

The TTC is closing Line 2 Bloor - Danforth subway between Jane and Ossington stations earlier than usually Tuesday, June 28 until Thursday, June 30. Line 2 subway trains operate only between Kipling and Jane stations and between Kennedy and Ossington stations after 11 p.m. those days.

Frequent buses partly replace Line 2 subway service. The buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops on the street near each station on the closed section of the Line.

Most stations on the closed section of the line remain open so you can pay fares or connect to TTC buses and streetcars. Note, however, that the TTC is closing exits / entrances for some stations on the closed section of Line 2 after 11 p.m.:

  • High Park Station: Parkview Gardens north (at Parkview Gardens and Clendenan Avenue) and south (at Bloor Street West and Parkview Gardens);
  • Keele Station: Indian Grove (at Bloor Street West and Indian Grove and at Bloor Street West and Indian Road);
  • Lansdowne Station: Emerson Avenue and Bloor Street West; and
  • Dufferin Station: Russett Avenue and Bloor Street West (both east and west sides).

While this part of Line 2 is closed, TTC crews are maintaining the tracks, likely also including activity on the bridge east of Keele Station. According to a TTC news release, “While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work as well as… signal upgrades.”

The TTC is closing this section of Line 2 at least twice more in July:

  • Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3 — Jane to Ossington — all weekend — track work.
  • Monday, July 4 until Wednesday, July 6 — Jane to Ossington — close early — track work.

Shuttle bus alternative

One way that you can reduce the impact of the closure is by planning ahead, leaving earlier than usually and giving yourself more time to get to where you’re going.

Although shuttle buses replacing subway service will be frequent, they may also be crowded.

Regular TTC buses provide less frequent, less direct, but, perhaps, less stressful alternatives.

  • Board buses along the 26 Dupont route to travel between Jane and St George stations.
