Starting Monday, July 4, the City of Hamilton is closing
- Garner Road West between Hamilton and Panabaker Drives
during the next phase of a project to install a trunk sewer-main and water-main.
The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:
- 44 Rymal.
Construction on Garner Road West and the resulting HSR detour continue until August 19.
In 2018, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road from Monday, May 7 until Wednesday, August 15.
In 2019, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road from Tuesday, July 2 until Friday, September 27.
In 2020, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road Saturday, July 25.

From 9 a.m. Monday, July 4 until 5 p.m. Friday, August 19, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Garner Road West and Shaver Road, then detour:
northward along Shaver;
northeastward along Wilson Street West;
south- and eastward along Amberley Boulevard; and then
southward along Fiddler’s Green Road to Garner,
resuming their regular route eastward along Garner West.Eastbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Garner Road West at Shaver Road, across from Panabaker and Hamilton Drives and Braithwaite Avenue and at Fiddler’s Green Road.
Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Wilson Street West beyond Hamilton Drive and at Amberley Boulevard,
- on Amberley Boulevard at Sunnymeade Drive, Melanie and Cottingham Crescents [west] and Fiddler’s Green Road and
- on Fiddler’s Green Road across from Enmore Avenue.
Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.
Westbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Garner Road West at Braithwaite Avenue, Hamilton and Panabaker Drives and Shaver Road.
Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Fiddler’s Green Road beyond Garden and Enmore Avenues,
- on Amberley Boulevard across from Bloomsbury Court, at Leith Court, across from Melanie Crescent [west] and Chippendale Avenue and at Wilson Street West and
- on Shaver Road beyond Wilson Street West, across from Liddycoat Lane and at Garner Road West.
