During this project, crews are:

  • milling the asphalt surface; and
  • repairing cracks;
  • replacing base and surface asphalt layers; and
  • repainting pavement markings.

The work zone may temporarily reduce traffic lanes to a single lane in each direction and temporarily block intersections. “Paid-duty” Peel Regional Police officers will be on site to help direct traffic. Crews mostly work Mondays to Fridays from 9:30 a.m. until 6 a.m. Occasionally, they may also work Saturdays and Sundays to keep the project on schedule.

Construction on Steeles West continues until “the end of July”, meaning as late as until July 31.

Also, from 11 a.m. Monday, July 4 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, contractors work on the next phase of the project. During this phase of construction, the work zone temporarily blocks traffic crossing Steeles West at McMurchy Avenue South / Malta Avenue.
