Milliken GO Station: New boarding location, starting July 4

Metrolinx continues to upgrade Milliken GO Station, improving amenities, building a vehicle underpass and pedestrian bridge on Steeles Avenue East, and enhancing accessibility, as part of the GO Expansion Program.

Starting Monday, July 4, GO Transit is shifting the boarding area further north on the platform. Use the pedestrian walkways and be cautious around construction areas.

Pedestrians must detour southward along the east sidewalk on Redlea Avenue to the station entrance. GO is installing a walkway through the parking lot to provide more pedestrian access to the station.

GO has also closed the west platform during construction. A new entrance leads you safely to your new platform. This temporary platform change facilitates construction on the west platform and stair structures in the station and excavation and utility works under the rail bridge on Steeles Avenue East.

Remember to give yourself extra time to get to where you’re going. Don’t forget that construction and station improvements are also underway at nearby Agincourt and Unionville GO stations.

Construction affects how you board and exit your train. Check the graphic below to make sure you’re sitting in the correct car for your stop.

Listen to the announcements on your train. Not all cars will open their doors at Milliken. Ask your customer service ambassador for help. Look for signage to show you where to stand and remember to spread out along the platform.

This phase of construction at Milliken GO Station continues until “November 2022”, meaning as late as until November 30.

Since early June, 2020 Metrolinx and its contractors have been building the new bridges at Steeles Avenue East, just north of the station. The City of Toronto and Metrolinx have started working together to lower Steeles East between Old Kennedy Road / Silver Star Boulevard and Redlea Avenue, so that road users can move freely below, while GO trains and passengers get to their destination above along a new track. The project also includes a pedestrian bridge across Steeles to help passengers access Milliken GO Station.

Two lanes in each direction are available for traffic on the south side of the underpass, while construction continues on the north side. A pedestrian walkway is available on the south side of Steeles East beside the new retaining wall.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Stouffville line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
