Weston GO / UPX Station: Secure bike-room construction, starting July 13



Metrolinx continues a project to upgrade Weston GO / UPX Station, as part of the GO Expansion Program.


Wednesday, July 13, GO Transit start installing a secure bike room at the station. The work zone blocks part of the west parking lot.

Since Thursday, June 23, GO Transit starts upgrading the electric power supply at the station. In this phase of the project, crews are disconnecting the ticket-vending machine in front of the west side of the station building. You can use two other ticket vending machines on the east side of the station building. You will continue to see fencing and the construction crew working in front of the station building.

This phase of upgrading the power supply at Weston GO / UPX Station continues for approximately three weeks, meaning construction continues as late as until July 15. GO is temporarily relocating some reserved parking spaces and limiting the number of general parking spaces during construction.

Construction of the secure bike room at Weston GO / UPX station continues until “mid-August”, meaning construction continues as late as until August 20.


Since Monday, May 30, GO contractors have been trenching in front of the station house. You’ll see fencing and a construction crew working in front of the GO station building. The work zone blocks one accessible parking space in the west parking lot. The crew needs this space to continue excavating to upgrade the electrical supply to the GO station building. Look for wayfinding signs with information to guide your around the work zone while you’re walking to and from the platforms.

This phase of construction at Weston GO Station continues until “later this summer”, meaning as late as until September 30.


Since Monday, June 3, 2019, GO has closed the passenger pick-up and drop-off area (or “kiss ‘n’ ride”) and nine parking spots in the east parking lot at the station. The closures support an ongoing project to build a new track and platform and other amenities.


Metrolinx says, that, at the end of the project to upgrade the station, you’ll benefit from:

  • a new north-side platform that includes canopied heated shelters, a snow0melt system, platform lighting, fare systems, a mini-ramp and tactile safety platform edge;
  • a fourth track to help bring more train service in the future;
  • an extension of the tunnel with stairs and elevators leading to the new platform;
  • landscaping and new signs throughout the station;
  • electrical work to accommodate electric trains in the future; and
  • new yellow tactile safety tiles at the edge of the platforms remind you how far back to stand.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Kitchener line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
