Oshawa


Durham ¼ Marathon

Saturday morning, participants run or walk exactly 6 miles, 975.25 yards (or 10.549 kilometres) between Oshawa City Hall and the southwest part of the city, near the boundary with Whitby. Participants help raise funds to support The Refuge, an outreach centre for homeless and “at-risk” young people.

Most of the event takes place on trails through the Oshawa Valleylands Conservation Area, Lakeview Park or along the Waterfront Trail, but, sometimes, participants pass along or across city streets. The event affects Durham Region Transit services.

410 Olive / Harmony

From about 7 until 9 a.m. Saturday, July 23, expect delays on John Street West at Centre Street South.

Major League Soccer

Saturday afternoon, Exhibition Place is closing various streets in its grounds to accommodate crowds of Toronto FC fans before, during and after the club’s match with Charlotte FC at BMO Field.

GO Transit is revising its schedules before the match to ease crowding and improve passenger flow at Exhibition GO Station.

All trains arriving before the game will use the south platform (Track 4) at Exhibition. After the game, trains leave from both the north and south platforms, so check departure boards before you head to the trains.

Extra GO staff will be on hand to help control crowds and to validate your fare. And, if you’re travelling to or from Liberty Village, you can take advantage of a new entrance building on the north side of the station at Atlantic Avenue.

09 Lakeshore East

All westbound trains from 4:10 until 6:40 p.m. leave Oshawa GO Station five minutes earlier than usually. If you’re travelling to the match, the last train before kickoff arrives in Exhibition GO Station at 7:17 p.m.

All eastbound trains from 5:35 until 8:05 p.m. leave Union Station 15 minutes later than usually.

GO is also revising the schedules for trains along the line later that evening.

01 Lakeshore West

All westbound trains from 5:15 until 7:45 p.m. leave Union Station five minutes earlier than usually.

The eastbound trains that usually leave West Harbour GO Station at 4:13, 5:13 and 6:13 p.m. leave, instead, ten minutes later at 4:23, 5:23 and 6:23 p.m. They arrive in Exhibition GO Station and Union Station 15 minutes later than usually.

The trains that usually leave Aldershot GO Station at 4:55, 5:55 and 6:55 p.m. leave, instead, ten minutes later at 5:05, 6:05 and 7:05 p.m. They arrive in Exhibition GO Station and Union Station 15 minutes later than usually. Eastbound trains also make longer stops than normal at popular stations to provide passengers extra time to board.


OSS Fest

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Ossington Avenue between Dundas and Queen Streets West

Saturday and early Sunday to accommodate the Ossington Business Improvement Association’s annual music festival.

The TTC is detouring buses, while the street is closed.

The City of Toronto is closing

The event affects GO Transit and TTC services.

GO Transit

Although the city is closing two major highways into and out of downtown Toronto to accommodate the event, GO buses will not miss stops on any route. However, GO has planned detour routings for its buses. As traffic conditions can change at any time, GO Transit Control may direct bus drivers to different routes around the city, depending on the current traffic conditions, but GO also wants to make sure that passengers arrive at their destinations safely and on time.

From 2 a.m. until noon Sunday, July 24, northbound buses start their trips at the Union Station bus terminal, then may proceed:

southward along Yonge Street;
eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard West and the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway;
northward along Highway 427; and then
eastward along Highway 401 to the Don Valley Parkway / Highway 404,
resuming their regular routes northward along Highway 404.
