Weekend events affect transit services, September 16, 17, 18



A full slate of other street festivals and road races also fills the agenda this weekend, resulting in many detours for transit services throughout the Greater Toronto Area, including RBC Race for Kids in the North York area of Toronto, the Roncesvalles Polish Festival and the Toronto Ukrainian Festival in central Toronto.

This year’s harvest-festival and fall-fair schedule has begun, affecting transit services in the Binbrook area of Hamilton, Brampton and the Brooklin area of Whitby.

Other events take place in Brampton, the East York area of Toronto and Mississauga.

Saturday, September 17, northbound buses leave City Highway 56 beside the fairgrounds, in front of the Little Theatre at 1:38 p.m. and every 40 minutes until 10:18 p.m. Buses proceed:

southward along Highway 56;

westward along Maggie Johnson Drive;
northward along Highway 56;
eastward along Rymal Road; and then
southward along Dakota Boulevard to Bishop Ryan Catholic High School,

Brampton Transit shuttle buses offer frequent service to carry fairgoers between the Heart Lake Terminal and the Region of Peel Agricultural Society’s annual fall fiesta at the Brampton Fairgrounds on Heart Lake Road.

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until October 8, the City of Brampton is closing

  • Wellington Street West between George and Main Streets South

to accommodate the city’s weekly farmers market.

Canadian Football League game

All Hamilton Street Railway routes

You can ride any HSR bus free of fare to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats game against the Winnipeg Blur Bombers Saturday, September 17 at 4 p.m. — if you hold a valid ticket to the game.

With the HSR’s Ticket to Ride program, you can ride free of fare to Tim Horton’s Field for as much as two hours before game time and free of fare from the stadium until the end of service.

2 Barton

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Barton Street East at Lenister Avenue North — just one block north of Tim Hortons Field.

3 Cannon

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Cannon Street East at Balsam Avenue North — just south of Tim Hortons Field.

Tiger-Cats Express shuttles

From about 2 until 4 p.m., Labour Day, Monday, September 5, free HSR shuttle buses also speedily transport ticket-holders from three terminals across the city to the stadium. After the game is over, they’ll shuttle you back again. You can view the schedule for the shuttle service here.
