DRT revises routes and services, September 19



Starting Monday, September 19, Durham Region Transit is revising these routes and services:


Route 103

DRT is splitting the route so that buses operate along different branches between Whites and Altona roads, restoring service to Strouds Lane between those streets.

It’s also introducing a new branch — 103C — to identify buses that operate along Strouds between Whites and Altona. Westbound buses operate along the new 103C branch “via Strouds” Monday-to-Friday mornings. Eastbound buses operate along the new branch afternoons. Westbound buses operate along the main 103 branch Monday-to-Friday afternoons. Eastbound buses operate along the main branch mornings.

Mondays to Fridays before noon starting Monday, September 19, westbound buses operate along their usual route to Strouds Lane and Whites Road, then proceed:

westward along Strouds to Altona Road,
resuming their usual route northward along Altona.

Westbound DRT buses along Route 103 no longer drop off or pick up passengers Monday-to-Friday mornings at stops

  • on Altona Road beyond Strouds Lane, at Bayfield Street, beside #1690 Whites, beyond Sheppard Avenue and at Kingston Road.
  • on Kingston Road at Steeple Hill, Rosebank Road, Rougemount Drive and Altona Road and
  • on Altona Road at Brookridge Gate, Fiddlers Court, Rougemount Drive, Sheppard Avenue, Granby Court and Strouds Lane.

Westbound DRT buses along Route 103 continue to serve passengers at these stops Monday-to-Friday afternoons.

DRT buses along PULSE 900 continue to serve passengers at the stops on Kingston Road during all times except overnight. And, buses along Route N1 serve the stops on Kingston overnight.

Instead, westbound buses along Route 103C again drop off or pick up passengers at stops Monday-to-Friday mornings

  • on Strouds Lane beyond Whites Road, at Ferman Street and across from Autumn Crescent and Calvington Drive.

Mondays to Fridays after noon, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Waterford Gate and Altona Road, then proceed:

northward along Altona; and then
eastward along Strouds Lane to Whites Road,
resuming their regular route eastward along Strouds.

DRT buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers Monday-to-Friday afternoons at stops

  • on Altona Road beyond Sheppard Avenue, at Littleford Street, across from Fiddlers Court, at Valley Gate and at Kingston Road,
  • on Kingston Road at Rougemount Drive, across from Rosebank Road and Steeple Hill and
  • on Whites Road at Sheppard Avenue, be3side #1675 Whites and at Briarwood Gate and Strouds Lane.

DRT buses along route 103 continue to serve passengers at these stops Monday-to-Friday afternoons.

DRT buses along PULSE 900 continue to serve passengers at the stops on Kingston Road during all times except overnight. And, buses along Route N1 serve the stops on Kingston overnight.

Instead, eastbound buses along Route 103C again drop off or pick up passengers at stops Monday-to-Friday mornings

  • on Strouds Lane beyond Altona Road, Calvington Drive and Autumn Crescent, at Rosebank Road, across from Ferman Street and at Foxwood Trail.

Route N1

DRT is revising the path between Harmony Terminal and Downtown Oshawa, so that buses operate along Harmony Road North and King and Bond streets east, instead of along Taunton Road East and Simcoe and Centre streets north.

Starting Monday, September 19, westbound buses operate along their usual route to Taunton Road East and Harmony Road North, then proceed:

southward along Harmony North; and then
westward along King Street East and Bond streets east and west to Centre Street North,
resuming their usual route westward along Bond West.

Westbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Taunton Road East beyond Harmony Road North, at Clearbook Drive, Wilson Road North, beyond Wilson Road North, at Naples Street, Ritson Road North and Mary Street North,
  • on Simcoe Street North beyond Taunton Road West, at Orchard View Boulevard, Beatrice Street West and Switzer Drive, beyond Rossland Road West, across from Buckingham Avenue, at Parkwood Court and beyond Adelaide Avenue West and
  • on Centre Street North at William Street West.

On-Demand service is available for overnight passengers at the stops on Taunton Road East. Buses along Route N2 continue to pick up or drop off passengers at the stops on Simcoe and Centre streets north overnight.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route)

  • on Harmony Road North beyond

Eastbound buses operate along their usual route to King and Simcoe Streets, then proceed:

eastward along King East; and then
northward along Harmony Road North to Taunton Road East,
resuming their usual route northward along Harmony North.

Eastbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Simcoe Street North beyond Bond Street East, at Colborne Street East and Adelaide Avenue East, across from Parkwood Court, at Hillcroft Street, beyond Rossland Road East, across from Switzer Drive, at Beatrice Street East, across from Orchard View Boulevard and at Taunton Road East and
  • on Taunton Road East beyond Simcoe Street North, at Mary Street North, beyond Ritson Road North and Naples Street, at Wilson Road North, beyond Wilson Road North, across from Clearbrook Drive and at Harmony Road North.

Buses along Route N2 continue to pick up or drop off passengers at the stops on Simcoe Street North overnight. On-Demand service is available for overnight passengers at the stops on Taunton Road East.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route)

  • on King Street East beyond Simcoe and Mary streets south, at Drew Street, beyond Ritson Road South, at Central Park Boulevard South and Cadillac Avenue South, beyond Wilson Road South and at Farewell Street and Riverside Drive South,
  • on Harmony Road North beyond King Street East, Regent Drive, across from Eastbourne Avenue, at Adelaide Avenue East, Copperfield Drive [south] and Rossland Road East, beyond Rossland Road East, at Corbett’s Road, across from Storey Avenue and Beatrice Street East, at Swiss Height, Grand Ridge Avenue and Taunton Road East.

Buses along Route N2 continue to pick up or drop off passengers at the stops on Simcoe and Street North overnight. On-Demand service is available for overnight passengers at the stops on Taunton Road East.

Route N2

DRT is revising the path so that buses to and from the area near the Oshawa Centre.

Southbound buses continue along their usual route.

Starting Monday, September 19, northbound buses operate along their usual route to Park Road South and Gibb Street, then proceed:

westward along Gibb;
northward along Stevenson Road South; and then
eastward along King Street West to Simcoe Street,
resuming their usual route northward along Simcoe North.

Northbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Gibb Street at Nassau Street and Centre Street South and
  • on Simcoe Street South at Elm Street and John and Athol streets east.

DRT is cancelling all overnight service to these stops.

On Demand

Since DRT is extending Route 103 to stops on Strouds Lane between Whites and Altona roads, it’s removing On Demand service from stops on Rosebank Road at Strouds Monday to Fridays during rush hours.

Since it’s revising Route N1, removing overnight service to stops on Taunton Road East in Oshawa between Harmony Road North and Simcoe Street North, it’s offering overnight On Demand service to passengers travelling to and from those stops.
