The Toronto Police Service has announced that the private funeral service for Constable Andrew Hong takes place tomorrow, Wednesday, September 21, at noon in the Toronto Congress Centre, North Building, 1020 Martin Grove Road. Constable Hong’s family, guests, members of the Toronto Police Service and representatives from other police services, emergency services personnel and officials will be attending the funeral, but it is not open to members of the public.
To accommodate the procession at it approaches the Congress Centre, the City of Toronto is closing
- Martin Grove Road — full closure between Belfield and Dixon roads, starting 6:30 a.m.
- Martin Grove Road — full closure Bethridge and Belfield roads, starting 7:30 a.m.
- Belfield Road — full closure between Highway 27 and Kipling Avenue, starting 7:30 a.m.
The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the streets are closed:
The road closures and detours continue until the end of the ceremony, by about 1 p.m.
Constable Hong died in the line of duty Monday, September 12.
Before arriving at the Congress Centre, the procession will start by about 9:25 a.m. from the Kane - Jerrett Funeral Homes, 8088 Yonge Street in the Thornhill area of Vaughan, then proceed:
northward along Yonge;
westward along Highway 407;
southward along Highway 27;
eastward along Steeles Avenue West; and then
southward along Martin Grove Road.

From 6 a.m. until about 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, east- and southbound buses operate along their regular route to Belfield Road and Highway 27, then detour:
northward along Highway 27;
eastward along Bethridge Road; and then
southward along Kipling Avenue to Belfield,
resuming their regular route southward along Kipling.East and southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Belfield Road beyond City View Drive, at the Canadian National Railway West Spur, Iron Street, the CNR East Spur, Martin Grove Road and McCulloch Avenue, across from #60 Belfield and at Shaft Road and Kipling Avenue.
Instead, east- and southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Kipling Avenue at Belfield Road.
North- and westbound buses operate along their regular route to Kipling Avenue and Bethridge Road, then detour:
westward along Bethridge;
northward along Martin Grove Road;
westward along Rexdale Boulevard; and then;
southward along Highway 27 to Belfield Road,
resuming their regular route westward along Belfield.North- and westbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Belfield Road beyond Kipling Avenue, across from Shaft Road, beside #60 Belfield, across from McCulloch Avenue and at Martin Grove Road, at the Canadian National Railway East Spur, Iron Street, the CNR West Spur and City View Drive.

eastward along Bethridge;
southward along Kipling Avenue; and then
westward along Dixon Road to Martin Grove,
resuming their regular route southward along Martin Grove.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Martin Grove Road at Bethridge Road, beyond Vulcan Street, at Belfield Road, beside #1120 Martin Grove, across from Enterprise Road, at Dosco Road, across from Ronson Drive and at Dixon Road.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Kipling Avenue at Belfield Road, across from Greensboro Drive and St. Andrews and Kingsview boulevards and at Dixon Road and
- on Dixon Road beyond Blackfriar Avenue.
Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Dixon Road at Celestine Drive and
