Events in the Ancaster area of Hamilton, Brampton, central Hamilton and Toronto affect transit services this weekend, Friday, September 23, Saturday, **September 24 and Sunday, September 26.

The Friday, September 23 events affecting transit service are: Ancaster Fair; and the Just for Laughs Festival.

The Saturday, September 24 events affecting transit service are: Ancaster Fair; the Brampton Farmers Market; the Just for Laughs Festival; and the Ottawa Street Sidewalk Sale.

The Sunday, September 25 events affecting transit service are: Ancaster Fair; the Brampton Farmers Market; the Just for Laughs Festival; and Running for Rachael.

Ancaster


Ancaster Fair

Again this year, the Hamilton Street Railway is operating shuttle bus service from the Meadowlands Terminal to the fairgrounds, south of Wilson Street West (City Highway 2) on Trinity Road. It’s also operating express shuttle buses between downtown Hamilton and the fair. You have to pay regular HSR fares on the buses along both routes.

Ancaster Fair / Downtown express shuttle

Eastbound buses leave Ancaster Fairgrounds at

  • 5:25 p.m. and every 70 minutes until 8:55 p.m., then 10 and 11 p.m. Friday, September 23,
  • 11:35 a.m. and every 70 minutes until 8:55 p.m., then 10 and 11 p.m. Saturday, September 24 and
  • 11:35 a.m. and every 70 minutes until 3:05 p.m. then 4:15, 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. Sunday, September 25.

The buses start their trips at the fairgrounds north of the free parking area, just west of Gate 2, then proceed:

eastward through Gate 2;
northward along Trinity Road;
eastward along Wilson Street West;
northward along Highway 403; and then
eastward along Main Street West to MacNab Street South,
ending their trips.

Buses drop off passengers only:

  • on Main Street West at Dundurn and MacNab streets south.

Westbound buses leave King Street West across from Cooke Terminal at

  • 4:50 p.m. and every 70 minutes until 8:20 p.m. Friday,
  • 11 a.m. and every 70 minutes until 8:20 p.m. Saturday and
  • 11:30 a.m. and every hour until 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The buses leave King Street West across from MacNab Terminal, then proceed:

westward along King West;
southward along Highway 403;
southwestward along Wilson Streets West; and then
southward along Trinity Road, entering the fairgrounds through Gate 3,
ending their trips on the north side of the free parking area west of Gate 2.

Westbound buses pick up passengers

  • on King Street West across from Cooke Terminal and at Dundurn Street North.
Ancaster Fair / Meadowlands local shuttle

Eastbound buses leave the Ancaster Fairgrounds at

  • 2 p.m. and then every hour until 11 p.m. Saturday, September 21.

The buses start their trips at the fairgrounds north of the free parking area, just west of Gate 2, then proceed:

eastward through Gate 2;
northward along Trinity Road;
eastward along Wilson Street West and Garner Road West;
northward along Shaver Road;
northeastward along Wilson Streets West and East;
eastward along Rousseaux Street;
southward along McNiven Road;
eastward along Golf Links Road;
northward along Neville Drive;
west- and southward along Martindale Crescent to the Meadowlands Terminal, just north of Golf Links Road, ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off passengers at stops

  • on Garner Road West beyond Wilson Street West,
  • on Wilson Street East at Rosseaux Street and
  • on Martindale Crescent in Meadowlands Terminal.

Westbound buses leave Meadowlands Terminal at

  • 1:30 p.m. and every hour until 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The buses start their trips on Martindale Crescent, just north of Golf Links Road, then proceed:

southward along Martindale;
westward along Golf Links Road;
northward along McNiven Road;
westward along Rousseaux Street;
southwestward along Wilson Streets East and West; and then
southward along Trinity Road, entering the fairgrounds through Gate 3,
ending their trips on the north side of the free parking area west of Gate 2.

Westbound buses pick up passengers at stops

  • on Martindale Crescent in Meadowlands Terminal,
  • on Wilson Street East south of Old Dundas Road and
  • on Garner Road West at Wilson Street West.

Brampton


Brampton Farmers Market

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until October 8, the City of Brampton is closing

  • Wellington Street West between George and Main Streets South

to accommodate the city’s weekly farmers market.

GO Transit is likely detouring service while the street is closed, but has not announced detour routings.

31 / 31A / 31E / 31F Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto

From 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, September 24, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Downtown Brampton Terminal, then detour:

eastward along Nelson Street West; and then
southward along Main Streets North and South to Wellington Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Main South.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all stops.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Wellington Street West at George Street South.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stopping

  • on Main Street South south of Wellington Street East.

Ottawa Street Sidewalk Sale

The City of Hamilton is closing

  • Ottawa Street North between Main and Barton streets east

Saturday morning and afternoon to accommodate the Ottawa Street Business Improvement Area’s annual event.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses while the street is closed.

41 Mohawk (“via Ottawa”)

From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, September 24, east- and northbound buses operate along their regular route to Ottawa Street South and Main Street East, then detour:

eastward along Main East;
northward along Kenilworth Avenue North; and then
westward along Barton Street East to Ottawa North,]
resuming their regular route northward along Ottawa.

East- and northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Ottawa Street North beyond Main Street East and Dunsmure Road, at Cannon Street East, beyond Edinburgh Street and at Barton Street East.

Instead, east and northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Main Street East at Park Row South, beyond Graham Avenue South and at Huxley Avenue South,
  • on Kenilworth Avenue North beyond Main Street East, at Dunsmure Road, Roxborough Avenue and Cannon Street East, beyond Britannia Avenue and at Albany Avenue and
  • on Barton Street East beyond Kenilworth Avenue North, across from Robins, Frederick and Fraser Avenues and at Ottawa Street North.

Running for Rachael

The management of CF Lime Ridge mall in Hamilton are closing some of the roadways on the property Sunday morning to accommodate the annual run, supporting the city-wide work of suicide prevention in Hamilton. Closing the roadways blocks Hamilton Street Railway bus access to Lime Ridge terminal.

The HSR is detouring buses along these routes, while the event blocks access to the terminal.

41 Mohawk

From 7 until 11 a.m. Sunday, September 25, buses in both directions operate along their regular route to the CF Lime Ridge Ring Road and the northernmost exit to Upper Wentworth Street, then proceed:

westward along the northernmost exit road to Upper Wentworth,
resuming their regular route northward along Wentworth.

Buses skip their regular stop

  • in Lime Ridge Terminal.

Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on the CF Lime Ridge Ring Road at the northernmost exit to Upper Wentworth Street.

The Ottawa Street Sidewalk Sale also affects service along this route Saturday, September 24.

43 Stone Church

From 7 until 11 a.m. Sunday, September 25, buses in both directions operate along their regular route to Upper Wentworth Street and Kingfisher Drive, then proceed:

west- and southward along Kingfisher;
eastward along Limeridge Road East;
loop around the cul-de-sac beside Royal Canadian Legion Branch 163,
westward along Limeridge East; and then
north- and eastward along Kingfisher to Upper Wentworth,
resuming their regular route southward along Wentworth.

Buses skip their regular stop

  • in Lime Ridge Terminal.

Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • westbound on Kingfisher Drive beyond Upper Wentworth Street and
  • eastbound on Kingfisher Drive at Upper Wentworth Street.

From 7 until 11 a.m. Sunday, September 25, inbound buses start their trips on Upper Wentworth Street south of Education Court, then proceed:

southward along Upper Wentworth to across from the southernmost entrance to CF Lime Ridge from Wentworth,
resuming their regular route southward along Wentworth.

Inbound buses skip their regular stop

  • in Lime Ridge Terminal.

Instead, inbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Upper Wentworth Street beyond Education Court.

Outbound buses reverse the inbound detour routing.

Outbound buses skip their regular stop

  • in Lime Ridge Terminal.

Instead, inbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Upper Wentworth Street across from Education Court.

Just for Laughs Festival

From 8 a.m. Sunday, September 18 until 6 a.m. Monday, September 26, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Front Street East between Church and Yonge streets

to accommodate street-level events for the festival.

The TTC is detouring buses, while the street is closed:

121 Esplanade - River

From 8 a.m. Sunday, September 18 until 6 a.m. Monday, September 26, westbound buses operate along their regular route to The Esplanade and Lower Jarvis Street, then detour:

northward along Lower Jarvis and Jarvis streets;
westward along King Street East; and then
southward along Yonge Street to Wellington Street East,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on The Esplanade beyond Church Street and at Yonge Street,
  • on Yonge Street at Front Street East and
  • on Front Street West beyond Bay Street.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street East beyond Jarvis and Church streets and
  • on Yonge Street at Wellington Street West.

Eastbound buses star their trips on Yonge Street at Wellington Street West, then proceed:

southward along Yonge; and then
eastward along The Esplanade to Church Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along The Esplanade.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Front Street West beyond Bay Street and
  • on Church Street at The Esplanade.

Instead, eastbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Yonge Street at Wellington Street West.
