The TTC is making minor changes to its routes and services, starting Sunday, October 9.
Due to fewer riders boarding buses resulting from social distancing and lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, the TTC continues to suspend service along these express routes:
- 141 Downtown / Mt Pleasant express;
- 142 Downtown / Avenue Rd express;
- 143 Downtown / Beach express;
- 144 Downtown / Don Valley express; and
- 145 Downtown / Humber Bay express.
The TTC also continues to suspend service along this route due to the pandemic:
- 508 Lake Shore.
The TTC continues to suspend service along this route due to Metrolinx construction of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line:
- 103 Mt Pleasant North.
As a pilot project, the TTC continues to combine route 503 service with the former 502 Downtowner route, as it has since September 9, 2019.

Increasing service along routes
9 Bellamy
Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates a bus on a new northbound trip along the route to serve passengers travelling from R. H. King Academy. The bus leaves Warden Station at 3:17 p.m. Monday-to-Friday school days.
42 Cummer
Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates buses on new trips along the route to serve passengers travelling from A.Y. Jackson Secondary School. The westbound bus leaves McNicoll Avenue east of Don Mills Road at 3:17 p.m. Monday-to-Friday school days. The eastbound bus leaves Cummer Avenue east of Leslie Street at 3:20 p.m.
It also operates buses on new trips to serve passengers travelling from St. Joseph Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School. The westbound bus leaves Cummer east of Bayview Avenue at 3 p.m. The eastbound bus leaves Cummer west of Bayview at 3 p.m.
306 Carlton overnight
During ongoing construction projects at the intersection of Carlton Street with Church Street and on College Street between Manning Avenue and Bay Street, the TTC is operating buses instead of streetcars. It’s revising the path so that the buses operate along Dundas streets east and west between Parliament Street and Ossington Avenue.

905 Eglinton East express
Starting Sunday, October 9, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop (for this route):
- on Military Trail (northbound) at Morningside Avenue.
The new stop is for passengers travelling to and from the Pan Am Sports Centre.
37A Islington via Rexdale
Starting Thanksgiving, Monday, October 10, the TTC operates three early-morning buses to serve stops between Humberwood Loop and Woodbine Racetrack. The buses start in Humberwood Loop at 2:18, 2:48 and 3:18 a.m.
It also operates another early bus that serves stops between Woodbine and Humberwood. It starts in the racetrack loop at 5:48 a.m.
Buses on these extra trips serve the stops before and after regular service along the 336 Finch West overnight route.
985A Sheppard East express
Starting Sunday, October 9, buses westbound buses pick up passengers at a new stop (for this route):
- on Triton Road at Borough Drive.
Eastbound buses drop off passengers at a new stop (for this route)
- on Progress Avenue at Borough Drive.
The new stop serves passengers connecting with GO Transit and intercity buses at the temporary Scarborough Centre GO Bus Terminal.
84C Sheppard West via Arrow
Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC operates two extra northbound buses along the route early Monday-to-Friday mornings. The buses leave Jane Street north of Sheppard Avenue West at 5:47 and 6:03 a.m. By operating these extra buses, the TTC says it can “provide transfer-free bus trips to Rossdean Drive at Steeles Avenue West and to be more consistent with service provided later in the morning peak period.”
The buses previously operated along the 99 Arrow Rd route.
96B Wilson (Humberline - Wilson Stn via Martin Grove and Westhumber)
The TTC is operating buses on extra trips along the route between Humberline Loop and Humber College Terminal Saturday, Sunday and holiday evenings. It explains that the extra service “[provides] better… evening and Blue Night Network transit connections.”
Starting Sunday, October 9, extra buses leave Humberline Loop at 7:39 p.m. Sundays and 7:39 p.m. and 1:36 and 1:47 a.m. Mondays.
Starting Saturday, October 15, extra buses leave Humberline at 7:46 p.m. Saturdays and 1:41, 2:01 and 2:13 a.m. Sundays.
Decreasing service along routes
99 Arrow Rd
Starting Tuesday, October 11, the TTC no longer operates the northbound buses that usually leave Jane Street north of Sheppard Avenue West at 5:47 and 6:03 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. Instead, the buses operate along the 84C Sheppard West via Arrow route.
172 Cherry Beach
Thanksgiving, Monday, October 11 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Monday-to-Friday service continues until Friday, November 18.
506 Carlton shuttle buses
During ongoing construction projects at the intersection of Carlton Street with Church Street and on College Street between Manning Avenue and Bay Street, the TTC is detouring streetcars along the 506 Carlton route to operate along Dundas streets east and west between Parliament Street and Ossington Avenue.
Shuttle buses replace the cars. Starting Thursday, October 13, the TTC is revising the path for the buses. The TTC says, “This diversion plan creates a replacement service that will more reliability and effectively allow [passengers] to complete their journeys to and from destinations near College and Carlton Streets in a more structured way.”
The TTC is temporarily cancelling all transit service to these regular westbound route 506 stops:
- on Carlton Street at Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis, Church and Yonge streets,
- on College Street at Bay and Elizabeth streets and Queen’s Park, across from McCaul Street and at St. George Street, Spadina Avenue, Major, Borden and Bathurst streets, Euclid Avenue, Grace and Crawford streets and Ossington Avenue.

86 Scarborough
Since the Terra Lumina event at the Toronto Zoo is closing earlier Saturdays, the TTC is ending service to and from the zoo earlier, too.
Starting Saturday, October 15, service ends by 10:30 p.m. Saturdays.
The TTC continues to operate special shuttle buses between the Zoo and Meadowvale Loop during Terra Lumina, instead of regular buses along the 86A branch of the route. (The buses display “Special” on their route and destination sign and operate every 15 minutes.) At Meadowvale Loop, you can connect with regular TTC buses along the 85 Sheppard East and 86 Scarborough routes.
Decreasing the frequency of service along a route
501L Queen shuttle bus
The TTC is decreasing the frequency of service along the route during various times every day.
Starting Sunday, October 9, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops:
- every 8 minutes, instead of every 7 minutes, Sundays and holidays from about noon until 7 p.m.
Starting Tuesday, October 11, the buses serve passengers at stops:
- every 7 minutes, instead of every 6 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
Starting Saturday, October 15, the buses serve passengers:
- every 7 minutes, instead of every 6 minutes, Saturdays from about noon until 7 p.m.
Revising the paths for buses along routes
506 Carlton shuttle buses
During ongoing construction projects at the intersection of Carlton Street with Church Street and on College Street between Manning Avenue and Bay Street, the TTC is detouring streetcars along the 506 Carlton route to operate along Dundas streets east and west between Parliament Street and Ossington Avenue.

Adjusting the schedules for buses along routes
31B Greenwood (Coxwell Station - Eastern via Greenwood Station)
Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC adjusts the schedules so that buses start and end their trips on Eastern Avenue at Knox Avenue, instead of one stop further east on Eastern, across from Minto Street.
53 Steeles East
Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC adjusts the schedules “to more efficiently provide service to Tapscott Road, Passmore Avenue, and Morningside Avenue.” It isn’t revising service levels — frequency — along the route.
55 Warren Park
Starting Sunday, October 9, the TTC adjusts the schedules to produce consistent departure times from Jane Station. Buses leave the station terminal at 15 minutes and 45 minutes after the hour all day, every day.
