Yonge Street bridge demolition: TTC detours, October 28 to 30



From 7 a.m. Friday, October 28 until 11 p.m. Sunday, October 30, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Yonge Street between Front Street and Lake Shore Boulevard

to accommodate Metrolinx contractors who are partially demolishing the bridge carrying GO Transit trains into and out of Union Station.

The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 97 Yonge;
  • 121 Esplanade - River; and
  • 320 Yonge overnight.

The City is again closing the street and the TTC is detouring the buses:

  • from 7 p.m. Friday, November 4 until 11 p.m. Sunday, November 6; and
  • from 7 p.m. Friday, November 11 until 11 p.m. Sunday, November 13.

121 Esplanade - River

From 7 a.m. Friday, October 28 until 11 p.m. Sunday, October 30, westbound buses operate along their regular route to The Esplanade and Church Street, then detour:

northward along Church; and then
westward along Wellington Street East to Yonge Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Wellington West.

  • on The Esplanade beyond Church Street and at Yonge Street and
  • on Yonge Street at Front Street East.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route.

320 Yonge overnight

After 7 a.m. Friday, October 28 and all day Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, northbound buses start their trips on Queens Quay West, just west of Yonge Street, then proceed:

eastward along Queens Quay East;
northward along Lower Jarvis Street; and then
westward along Front and Wellington streets east to Yonge,
resuming their regular route northward along Yonge.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Yonge Street beyond Queens Quay East and at Front Street East.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queens Quay East across from Freeland Street and
  • on Lower Jarvis Street beyond Queens Quay East and at Lake Shore Boulevard East and The Esplanade.
