Durham Region Transit is making minor changes to its services, starting Monday, January 2.
It’s revising the paths for buses along routes in Clarington, Oshawa and Pickering.
And, holiday service ends and regular service resumes.
DRT is revising service along these routes: PULSE 900; PULSE 901; PULSE 915; PULSE 916;Route 103; Route 112; Route 211; Route 222; Route 291; Route 302; Route 392; Route 410; Route 411; Route 423; Route 902; Route 905; Route 910; Route 917; Route 920.
Specifically, it’s: introducing new branches of routes; resuming service along a branch of a route; increasing service along routes; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along routes; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the paths for buses along routes; adjusting the schedules for buses along routes; and making another change to service along a route.
Introducing new branches of routes
Route 112
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT extends the path so that buses along the route serve passengers in the Seaton area.
It designates buses operating to and from Seaton as operating along the 112B branch of the route.

Route 103
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT extends the path so that buses along the route serve passengers in the Finch Avenue / Woodview Avenue area.
DRT designates eastbound buses to and from Finch / Woodview as operating along the 103B branch of the route.
DRT is also making another change to service along the route.

Resuming service along a branch of a route
Route 917A
Holiday service ends and regular service resumes.
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT again operates buses along the 917A short-turn branch of the route. Buses along the 917A branch operate only between Oshawa Centre terminal and Whitby GO Station Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
DRT is also increasing the frequency of service along that part of the route and adjusting the schedules for buses along the route..

Increasing service along routes
PULSE 915
DRT is increasing the hours of service along the route.
Starting Monday, January 2, eastbound buses operate earlier Mondays to Fridays, with the first bus of the day leaving Ajax GO Station bus terminal at 3:45 a.m. Westbound buses operate an hour later than usually, with the last bus leaving Harmony Terminal at 11:30 p.m.
Starting Saturday, January 7, westbound buses operate 30 minutes later than usually Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, with the last bus leaving Harmony Terminal at 11 p.m.
DRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

PULSE 916
DRT is increasing the hours of service along the route Mondays to Fridays.
Starting Monday, January 2, westbound buses operate 30 minutes later than usually, with the last bus leaving Harmony Terminal at 11:31 p.m.

Route 103
DRT is extending the path so that buses along the route serve passengers in the Finch Avenue / Woodview Avenue area Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
Starting Monday, January 2, westbound buses drop off passengers at a new stop:
- on Altona Road across from Pine Grove Avenue.
Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops
- on Altona Road across from Pine Grove Avenue, at Sparrow Crescent [south and north] and across from Shadow Place and
- on Woodview Avenue beyond Finch Avenue.
DRT is also introducing a new branch of the route making another change to service along the route.

Route 112
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT extends the path so that buses along the route serve passengers in the Seaton area Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops
- on Burkholder Drive beyond Belcourt Street and at Hibiscus [Drive (?)].
Southbound buses only operate from Seaton during morning rush hours.
Northbound buses drop off passengers at a new stop

Route 423
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT operates buses along the route Monday-to-Friday midday — from about 1 until 3 p.m.
With this change, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route continuously every 30 minutes Mondays to Fridays from about 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Route 502
DRT is increasing the hours of service along the route.
Starting Monday, January 2, buses operate later Mondays to Fridays, with buses dropping off or picking up passengers as late as 11 p.m.
Starting Saturday, January 7, buses operate Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from about 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
On Demand service is available when buses aren’t operating along the route.
Also starting January 2, DRT is revising the path for buses along the route.
That day, westbound buses serve passengers at a new stop
- on Stevens Road at Clarington Boulevard.

Route 920
DRT is revising the path so that buses operate along Conlin Road West and Stevenson Road North, instead of Simcoe Street North and Taunton Road West in Oshawa between Conlin / Simcoe North and Taunton West / Stevenson North.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop

Decreasing service along routes
Route 103
DRT is extending the path so that buses along the route serve passengers in the Finch Avenue / Woodview Avenue area.
By extending rush-hour service to Finch / Woodview, DRT also decreases service to some of its regular stops during rush hours.
Starting Monday, January 2, westbound buses no longer drop off passengers at a stop Mondays to Fridays during rush hours
- on Pine Grove Avenue beyond Altona Road.
Eastbound buses buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops during rush hours
- on Pine Grove Avenue beyond Altona Road and Sandhurst Crescent [west] and at Nordane Drive.
Buses continue to serve passengers at these stops Mondays to Fridays from about 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Route 302
DRT ends service Monday-to-Friday service to and from the North Oshawa campuses of Durham College and Ontario Tech University earlier than usually.
Southbound service ends an hour earlier than usually. The last southbound bus of the day leaves the campuses at 7:55 p.m.
Northbound service ends 30 minutes earlier than usually. The last bus of the day arrives on the campuses at 7:55 p.m..

Route 920
DRT is revising the path so that buses operate along Conlin Road West and Stevenson Road North, instead of Simcoe Street North and Taunton Road West in Oshawa between Conlin / Simcoe North and Taunton West / Stevenson North.

Starting Monday, January 2, DRT is revising the path for buses along the route.

- on Brookhill Boulevard at Green Road,

Route 902A
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT revises the path for westbound buses along the route.
All day Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays before about 8 p.m., westbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at their usual stops
- on Simpson Avenue at King Street East,
- on King Street East beyond Liberty Street North and George Street and at Temperance Street and
- on King Street West across from Roenigk Drive and at Bowmanville Avenue.
Instead, buses along Route 502 serve passengers at the stops during most times of the week. Buses along Route 902 continue to serve the stops after about 8 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Eastbound buses continue to operate along their usual route.

Increasing the frequency of service along routes
Route 392
DRT is increasing the frequency of service between Whitby GO Station and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Services Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Starting Monday, January 2, midday buses operate along that section of the route
- every 30 minutes, instead of every hour.
With this changes, buses operate continuously between the GO station and the health centre every 30 minutes Mondays to Fridays from about 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Route 905A
Holiday service ends and regular service resumes.
DRT is operating more buses along the 905A branch of the route between Harmony Terminal and Whitby GO Station Monday-to-Friday midday — from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. As a result, DRT increases the frequency of service during that period so that buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops south of Simcoe Street North / Britannia Avenue:
- every 15 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

Route 917
Holiday service ends and regular service resumes.
Since more passengers travel to and from Durham College’s Whitby campus during winter and spring, DRT is increasing the frequency of service along part of the route Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours.
Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops between Oshawa Centre Terminal and Whitby GO Station:
- every 15 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.
DRT is also resuming service along a branch of the route and adjusting the schedules for buses along the route.

Decreasing the frequency of service along routes
PULSE 900
DRT is decreasing the frequency of service to and from Scarborough Mondays to Fridays from about noon until 6 p.m.
Starting Monday, January 2, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops west of Kingston Road / Glenanna Road:
- every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes.
With this change, buses along the route operate along the route to and from Scarborough every 30 minutes all day every day, except overnight.

PULSE 901
DRT is decreasing the frequency of service along parts of the route Mondays to Fridays from about 3:30 until 7 p.m.
Starting Monday, January 2, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops south of Simcoe Street South / Gibb Street to and from Lakeview Park:
- every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes.
They serve passengers at stops west of Simcoe South / Gibb to and from Oshawa Centre terminal:
- every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes.
They serve passengers north of the North Oshawa campuses of Durham College and Ontario Tech University to and from Windfield Farms Drive:
- every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes.
With this change, buses operate to and from Lakeview Park and Windfield Farms every 30 minutes all day every day, except overnight.
Buses serve passengers every 30 minutes to and from Oshawa Centre:
- Mondays to Fridays before about 7 p.m.
- Saturdays before about 10 p.m.; and
- Sundays and holidays before about 7 p.m.
Buses serve passengers between Simcoe South / Gibb and the campuses every 15 minutes:
- Mondays to Fridays before about 7 p.m.
- Saturdays before about 10 p.m.; and
- Sundays and holidays before about 7 p.m.

PULSE 915
DRT is adjusting the schedules for buses along the route, it says, “to reflect increased road congestion.” By adjusting the schedules, it’s decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays before about 8 p.m.

DRT is revising the path so that buses along route 410 follow the same path as buses along the parallel Route 423 in the area of Gibb Street / Simcoe Street South / Olive Avenue.
Starting Monday, January 2, westbound buses operate along their usual route to Olive Avenue and Albert Street, then proceed:
westward along Olive;
northward along Simcoe Street South; and then
westward along Gibb Street to Centre Street South,
resuming their usual route westward along Gibb.Westbound buses no longer operate along Albert Street between Olive and Gibb or along Elm Street between Albert and Simcoe South.
Eastbound buses operate along their usual route to Gibb Street and Centre Street South, then proceed:
southward along Centre South;
eastward along Fairbanks Street;
southward along Simcoe Street South; and then
eastward along Olive Avenue to Celina Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along Olive.Eastbound buses no longer operate along Gibb Street between Centre South and Simcoe South, along Elm between Simcoe South and Celina or along Celina between Elm and Olive.

Route 502
DRT is revising the path in the Clarington Centre area.
Starting Monday, January 2, westbound buses operate along their regular route to King Street West / Durham Highway 2 and Green Road, then proceed:
northward along Green; and then
eastward along Stevens Road to Clarington Boulevard,
resuming their usual route southward along Clarington.Westbound buses no longer proceed along Highway 2 west of Green, Boswell Drive, Brookhill Boulevard or Clarington north of Stevens.
And, they no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Durham Highway 2 at Boswell Drive,
- on Boswell Drive beyond Durham Highway 2 and at Brookhill Boulevard and
- on Brookhill Boulevard at Green Road.
Instead, westbound buses serve passengers at a new stop
- on Stevens Road at Clarington Boulevard.

Route 902A
Starting Monday, January 2, most westbound buses start their trips on Clarington Boulevard north of Prince William Drive in Bowmanville, instead of on Simpson Avenue south of King Street West.
All day Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays before about 8 p.m., westbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at their usual stops
- on Simpson Avenue at King Street East,

When the Region of Durham, the City of Oshawa and the Town of Whitby finish improving roadways in the area, DRT will further revise the path so that buses operate along Conlin Road West (Oshawa) and Conlin Road East (Whitby) between Stevenson and Thickson roads north and along Thickson North between Conlin and Taunton roads.

Adjusting the schedules for buses along routes
Route 211
Starting Monday, January 2, the eastbound bus that usually leaves Ravenscroft Road south of Dent Street at 6:11 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, at 6 a.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops as much as 11 minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip in Ajax GO Station bus terminal at 6:15 a.m.
By adjusting the schedule, DRT says it’s improving service to passengers connecting with GO Transit trains at Ajax GO Station.

Route 291
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT adjusts the schedules so that buses leave stops 45 minutes earlier than usually.

Route 411
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT adjusts the schedules for buses along the route.
The eastbound buses that usually start in Oshawa Centre Terminal at 7:25 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. along the 411 branch of the route, leave, instead, at 7:18 a.m. and 1:51 p.m. They operate along the 411C branch of the route, dropping off or picking up passengers at stops on Avondale Drive.
Buses along these adjusted eastbound trips replace the westbound buses that usually leave Farewell Street at Raleigh Avenue at 7:38 and 2:08 p.m.

Route 917
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT is adjusting the schedules for buses along the route every day.
DRT is also resuming service along a branch of the route and increasing the frequency of service along the route.

Making another change to service along a route
Route 103
Starting Monday, January 2, DRT introduces a new branch of the route and extends the path so that buses along the route operate to and from the area of Finch and Woodview avenues.
With these changes, DRT also reorganizes how it designates the branches of the route and their destinations.
Buses only operate along the route during Mondays to Fridays during daytime hours. On-Demand serves passengers in the area Monday-to-Friday evenings and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
