Valley Farm Pickering construction: DRT detour, starting January 7



Starting Saturday, January 7, the City of Pickering is closing

  • Valley Farm Road between Greenmount Street and Finch Avenue

to accommodate Region of Durham contractors who are completing a project to replace a sanitary sewer siphon.

Durham Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

Sanitary-sewer construction on Valley Farm Road and the resulting DRT detour continue until February 28.


Route 112

From 7 a.m. Saturday, January 7 until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Major Oaks Road and Greenmount Street, then detour:

eastward along Major Oaks;
southward along Brock Road; and then
westward along Finch Avenue to Valley Farm Road,
resuming their regular route westward along Finch.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Greenmount Street beyond Major Oaks Road.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Major Oaks Road beyond Greenmount Street and
  • on Brock Road beyond Major Oaks Road, beside Brock Ridge Community Park and at Finch Avenue.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Valley Farm Road beyond Finch Avenue and
  • on Greenmount Street at Major Oaks Road.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Brock Road beyond Finch Avenue and at Usman Road [south] and
  • on Major Oaks Road beyond Brock Road and across from Greenmount Street.
