Streetcars return to College, starting January 8

The City of Toronto / TTC project to to upgrade infrastructure

  • on College Street between Manning Avenue and Bay Street

has ended for the season.

Starting Sunday, January 8, the TTC resumes regular streetcar service along College Street between Ossington Avenue and Bay Street along these routes:

  • 306 Carlton overnight; and
  • 506 Carlton.

Buses no longer operate along Ossington Avenue, College, Carlton and Parliament Streets and Bloor Street East between Ossington and Castle Frank stations. Streetcars no longer detour along Ossington, Dundas Street West and Bay during the construction. And streetcars, instead of buses, again operate along the entire 306 Carlton overnight route.

The TTC started detouring service Sunday, September 4, 2022 and construction started shortly afterward.

The upgrades included:

  • replacing streetcar tracks between Bathurst and Bay Streets (excluding the intersections with Bathurst Street, Spadina Avenue, McCaul Street and Bay Street);
  • installing separated cycle tracks between Manning Avenue and Bay Street (elevated between Manning and Spadina avenues and at grade between Spadina and Bay);
  • building integrated TTC and cycle streetcar platforms between Manning and Spadina; and
  • improving pedestrian safety at various locations between Manning and Spadina.
