Broadview / Bain track repairs: TTC overnight detours, February 7 to 9

Starting Monday, February 6, TTC crews are repairing the streetcar tracks

  • on Broadview Avenue south of Bain Avenue.

During this project, the crews:

  • saw-cut concrete;
  • break and remove concrete;
  • replace the rail; and
  • place new concrete.

Streetcars along these routes operate with regular service through the work zone daytime and early evenings:

However, from 11 p.m., Tuesday, February 7 until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 8 and from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 4:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, the TTC detours the cars. Shuttle buses replace the cars north of Gerrard Street East.

The TTC says, “Rail work of this nature is required around-the-clock to ensure quality installation of new rail and concrete.” Overnight, crews will weld the new rail and place new concrete. The new concrete requires curing time before crews can remove the work zone and traffic can again operate along all lanes of Broadview Avenue by 4:30 a.m. February 9.

The work zone restricts traffic to just one lane in each direction during the project. Expect delays. A “paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officer or a flag person will be on site to direct traffic when necessary. The City of Toronto is temporarily prohibiting parking near the work zone.
